Director Product Strategist BlackRock New York

BlackRock is seeking an Investment Strategist, based in New York. The strategist role is responsible for all aspects of driving business growth for FBSG across North America, including business development, internal education and thought leadership. The position will be particularly focused supporting the institutional FBSG business for east coast clients, with a secondary responsibility for supporting retail advisory discussions.

The successful candidate will work closely with fellow product strategists as well as the research and portfolio management teams. Reporting to the Head of Investment Strategy for FBSG, this role requires strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills and a strong understanding of the institutional asset management industry.

Responsibilities:
• Work closely with key business partners across institutional, retail and iShares sales channels to drive net new business in enhanced factor strategies. Offer in-depth and up-to-date knowledge on the entirety of the factor-based investment platform and articulately represent factor investing in client discussions, including finals presentations. Provide the highest level of client service to internal business partners and external clients, including timely and insightful responses to client queries and creative solutions for business opportunities.
• Develop market commentary, client materials and strategy attribution for a variety of factor based strategies. Contribute to the thought leadership program by authoring white papers and case studies. Develop internal training resources and sales tools.
• Develop awareness and understanding of competitive environment and contribute insights toward product positioning and business development strategy.
• Assist in production of ad hoc analysis and requests for clients and prospects. Contribute to new business opportunities via timely response to requests for proposal (RFPs)
• Take a proactive approach to solving clients’ investment-related, business and operational issues by serving as the liaison between the investment team and all other areas of BlackRock (compliance, legal, operations, marketing and sales)
• Gather requirements and client trends to contribute to strategy development priorities for FBSG. Work closely with the FBSG leadership team to develop and execute on business plan and product roadmap for the region.

Qualifications:
• BA/BS in Finance, Economics or similar field. CFA designation and/or MBA a plus
• 8-10+ years industry experience, including strong investment management knowledge and proven client facing capability. Possessing both retail advisory and institutional client experience particularly attractive
• Knowledge of factor based investing practices and understanding of capital markets across a broad range of asset classes
• Client servicing experience required including strong interpersonal skills for effective and efficient communications across various internal and external channels.
• Extensive travel is required, approximately 50-60% (generally within continental US)
• Passionate about investing, fundamentally curious and self-motivated. Work independently and proactively in an entrepreneurial and fast-paced team environment
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills a requirement
• Strong Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) skills required. Familiarity risk models and Aladdin a plus
