Director Paid Acquisition Udemy San Francisco

As our Director of User Acquisition, you’ll be responsible for growing Udemy’s student base. Several hundred thousand new students start learning on Udemy every month and they hear about Udemy via a wide array of channels, including: word-of-mouth, ads, affiliates, instructors, and SEO. We’re looking for a leader who is deeply analytical, highly creative (finds 10 different ways to run around the brick wall), a true learner, and passionate about driving growth.

Responsibilities:

Build and lead a team of 7+ growth marketers with a primary goal of driving new user revenue (i.e. # of users acquired per month X revenue per user in month 1).
Develop and define Udemy’s user acquisition strategy, including channel, geo, persona, and vertical focus.
Manage a $10mm+ yearly ad budget while maintaining strong ROIs and unit economics across cohorts
Actively manage the ads, affiliate, and seo channels while looking for new channels and ways to increase our word-of-mouth
Work cross-functionally across our growth marketing, brand, product and content acquisition teams to push forward strategic projects and make sure that we’re getting the right course in front of the right students at the right time via the right channel.
Work closely with our Growth Product team to identify and scope new conversion and landing page features to help the team more effectively reach students.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a user acquisition leadership role for a high-growth e-commerce or content business.
Entrepreneurial experience highly preferred; must have experience in a startup environment.
Demonstrated track record of delivering revenue results, balancing a data-driven marketing approach with high quality standards and a sense of what it takes to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
Structured thinker and highly analytical, comfortable using data to identify actionable solutions from ambiguous situations. Knowledge of SQL a big plus.
Experience in both setting the user acquisition strategy, as well as getting your hands dirty on execution.
Resourceful and creative; able to find ways around roadblocks now matter how severe or how often them come.
Exceptional project management, communication (written and verbal), and problem-solving skills, including the ability to get things done across teams and geographies.
Proven ability to build and manage a team that moves fast (and learns faster).
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) required.
A passion for online education, learning, and Udemy’s mission.
