Director Communications Diageo Norwalk

Reports to the VP of Corporate Communications. Role is focused on delivering our story around GDBS, Facilities and manufacturing operations as well as our people and culture working closely with HR.
Corporate Communications will develop and engage stakeholders to tell Diageo’s story in engaging ways around performance, positioning Diageo as an employer of choice, sharing our community engagement, and how we drive an innovation culture and make great consumer connections with our brands.

Responsibilities:
Develops narrative and communications strategy using the assets and stories from the operations (facilities, systems, supply) parts of our business and around people and culture to deliver overall corporate comms strategy.
Works with GDBS, Facilities and Supply Leadership to plan, develop and execute a comprehensive communications platform.
Works with HR team to develop internal and external communications and share our story around employer of choice especially recruitment, retention, culture, as well as diversity and inclusion.
Focuses on how we engage hourly employees in business.
Helps ensure consistent and timely messaging and build communications capacity among Supply site leaders.
Support communications around labor relations.
Develops and executes site communications so that hourly employees understand and are engaged in topline business performance and strategy.
Supports change management around systems and facilities. (i.e. Manages communications around supply footprint changes including KY distillery build, etc.)
Develops and executes executive communications for HR, Supply and GDBS. Sets agenda and plan for speaking opps, interviews, visibility internally and externally as appropriate and in service of the overall CR strategy and NA corporate comms plan (note: does not handle ongoing messages to teams, town hall materials and prep, etc)
Serves as point on all internal and external communications matters related to operations, working closely with Press Officer.
Develops and executes communications plan for Supply, GDBS, Facilities and HR internally and externally around:
Sustainable development
Employer of choice/workplace innovation
Innovation in supply chain management & Efficiency
GDBS systems innovation
Community outreach
Supports media outreach as needed
Spokesperson as needed where they are SMEs
Aware of, understands and can speak to main public policy issues affecting the company/industry.
Main point on crisis communications in Supply, GDBS and Facilities and HR.
Helps provide content ideas for social media channels.

Qualifications/Requirements:
10-15 years’ experience working in internal and external communications in corporate, agency or political campaign/government setting.
Must be able to work in a highly matrixed environment and possess strong stakeholder management skills.
Must be able to synthesize complex issues into simple communications/messages.
Issues and crisis management experience.
Excellent written and verbal skills.
Collaborative working style, willingness to flex roles and responsibilities when needed to support larger team goals and outcomes.
Willingness to try new ways of doing things and experiment with new ideas.
Comfortable working in ambiguity.
Self-starter with bias for action.
Undergraduate degree.
