The Director, Pharm Sci BT Lead has two major areas of responsibility: (1) Acts as lead Business Partner for BTxPharmSci and (2) Leads the St. Louis Lab Workflow and Automation team and provides oversight and coordination of the Andover BTx BT resources supporting the BTxPharmSci line.

Business Partner Lead: The Business Partner (BP) Lead is a senior technology leader with both experience in information technology (IT) and the related pharmaceutical sciences discipline. Working with their BTx Pharm Sci clients and Pharm Sci BT supporting staff, the BP Lead is responsible for development of strategy, project requirements and submission, delivery of IT solutions and services, and implementation of ongoing support models. Working with other members of the R&D BT organization, the BP will contribute to global Pharm Sci BT strategy and demand management.

LWA Lead: The Lab Workflow and Automation Lead is responsible for supervising the members of the St. Louis LWA team in delivery of LWA services across the site. LWA services include delivery and support of local applications, lab automation, and interpreting local aspects of global application implementation. The LWA lead will also provide oversight and coordination of the Andover BT resources supporting the BTxPharmSci line.

Responsibilities

Business Partner Leadership specific responsibilities:

Primary point of accountability:
• Provides a single point of contact and accountability for BTx Pharm Sci globally
• Builds/maintains key relationships with BTx PharmSci stakeholders
• Helps customers understand & navigate service offerings available from internal and external service IT/IS providers

Strategy Definition:
• Understands and contributes to clients’ operational IT needs and strategic direction
• Contributes to identifying business needs, capabilities gaps and IT opportunities
• Maintains understanding of current technologies and their application to pharmaceutical sciences
• Contributes to the comprehensive R&D BT strategy and capability model
• Assembles individual BT investment recommendations and develops business cases
• Key contributor to Pharm Sci Informatics Board governance

Project Delivery:
• Working with the project teams, responsible for project delivery according to strategy and annual investment plan
• Provides input to the design and build process for projects and ensures that these designs meet the requirements
• Participate and/or leads key project governance meetings
• Participates and/or leads in project status reporting

Service Delivery:
• Understands BTx Pharm Sci application usage and support needs
• Works with other R&D BT leaders to ensure appropriate support models are put in place
• Ensures on an ongoing basis that Service Delivery is meeting customer expectations

LWA Lead specific responsibilities:

Lab project governance
• Working with business and BT leaders, establish clear priorities for small lab optimization projects
• For larger projects, propose prioritization via established Pharm Sci Informatics Board processes
• For smaller projects, ensure team executes according to established priorities
• Escalate concerns with team capacity to business clients

Lab project implementation
• Assign projects to LWA team members
• Track progress using a consolidated portfolio tracking mechanism and tool
• Ensure issues and risks are escalated and resolved

Service Delivery Optimization
• Monitor LWA performance using established and agreed metrics
• Look for opportunities to optimize LWA team performance, including workflow and skills development

Working with other BTx Pharm Sci locations:
• Understands cross-site needs and opportunities. Partners with other BTx Pharm Sci location leads to ensure consistent understanding of those needs.
• Provides oversight and coordination of the Andover BTx business and BT resources supporting the BTx line
• Works closely with other BT leaders to ensure appropriate global view for BP responsibilities, including project delivery and support. Also works with other BT leaders to determine consistent approaches to LWA, and consistency in assignments, so as to leverage resources across sites if appropriate.

Group Leadership:
• The Director, Pharm Sci BT lead will manage the St. Louis Pharm Sci BT members, including all aspects of personnel leadership.

Qualifications

Education

Education: BS/BA required. Masters preferred in computer science or relevant scientific field.

Experience
- Significant IT/IS experience in the Pharmaceutical or Biotech industry or industries that serve Pharma/Biotech (10+ years)
- -Domain expertise in large molecule design and large molecule pharmaceutical sciences
- is highly desirable
- Experience successfully designing, delivering and maintaining IT business solutions for large-scale global organizations
• Proven ability to:
- Build and manage relationships and communicate effectively
- Develop innovative technology strategies to drive scientific research strategies and translate business strategy into process and technology strategy.
- Collaborate successfully with cross-functional teams
