As a senior leader of the IT Risk Operations & Remediation team, this individual will drive the thought leadership and development of the long-term innovation strategy for priority areas across the Technology Risk Office organization and partners/ supporting groups. This is a unique role that requires the right blend of “left-brain” and “right-brain” skills and interests, as you combine business and strategic rigor with an innovator’s creativity.

Accountable for the innovation, solution architecture and design of various IT Risk solutions including the Big Data Platform, Reporting & Visualization to work flow automation this role will provide technology leadership and guidance to AIG’s IT risk organization. Partnering with internal and external, management and professionals, to identify new and innovative solutions in furthering AIG’s strategic goals. Understand business and strategic objectives, identify and evaluate solution approach, define / develop technology architecture, provide functional design and actionable blueprints to ensure architecture is consistent, usable, secure, and adds value to the business.

This position involves both strategy and execution.

Working across various IT Risk disciplines including Identity & Access Management, Cyber Security and Compliance, this senior leader will help co-develop solutions that focus on key risk reduction areas.

• Developing a bold and transformational digital strategic agenda that looks 3+ years out to transform IT Risk by leveraging new and emerging information digital technologies and channels; Targeting Big Data and Big Ideas, digitally-enabled ideas that can drive future risk mitigation and management.

• Working closely with key stakeholders to create and deliver meaningful strategies for 3 years out and beyond; interfacing with enterprise business product development and strategic initiative senior leaders to identify and leverage technology innovation. Designing and facilitating brainstorming and ideation workshops with business owners and subject matter experts

• Communicate effectively, both verbally and on paper, at the most senior levels of the organization. Synthesize and communicate complex information from disparate sources into a clear compelling story that helps key internal decision makers commit to action.

• The Head of Architecture and Innovation will define and maintain overall responsibility for the strategic architectural direction that defines relationships between business models, applications, data, services, and technology.

• This leader will explain key business benefits and implications of technology decisions and outcomes, and provide guidance/input to business leaders and project delivery teams to ensure solutions being delivered are consistent with architectural direction, standards, principles, and patterns.

• Responsible for making software solutions more understandable and manageable by providing unifying and simplifying concepts including better work partitioning with decreased and/or more manageable dependencies.

• Accountable for adhering to corporate architecture standards, ensuring technology standards and best practices are maintained across the organization and contributing to corporate architecture strategy-setting.

• Accountable for shepherding the design solution all the way through coding, testing and into production, including resolution of post-production issues.

• Leads governance processes of new technologies and solutions to ensure consistent technology life cycle management. Builds consensus around principles of application architecture and interprets and clarifies these principles.

• Serves as technical solutions architecture subject matter expert to business areas, project teams and vendors to apply and execute appropriate use of technology solutions and lead efforts to examine technology vision, opportunities and challenges.

• Participates in the evaluation, selection and implementation of technology solutions including providing detailed analysis of pros and cons and build vs buy options.

• Evaluates strengths and flaws in application architecture including performance, quality, and availability, simplicity of design, security and total cost of ownership.



Position Requirements:

• Minimum 10-15 years' total experience in IT Architecture with strategy, architecture, innovation, solutions development, and business development. Management / IT consulting experience preferred.

•Experience with Big Data (Hadoop, Tableau, etc.).

•Experience in both front-end and back-end development.

•Architecture experience in Security, Identity Access Management, etc., strongly preferred.

• Significant financial services experience, preferably in Insurance, where technology is mission-critical to the company’s product

• Transformation leadership skills to successfully lead the organization through a substantial change initiative

• Significant leadership, change management, and relationship building skills

• Ability to build partnerships with senior leaders within IT and the business areas

• Strong thought leadership, management, communication, and influencing skills

• Broad and comprehensive understanding of Life Insurance products, distribution, sales, and service

• Extensive experience developing roadmaps, reference architectures and capability models using proven methodologies and frameworks

• Ability to integrate technical solutions with business requirements to ensure execution of business strategy

• Demonstrates strong understanding of the current and future architecture, including the relationships between business models, applications, data, and technology

• Requires broad and comprehensive understanding of external best practices and ability to quickly get up to speed on internal best practices
