Sr. Director Advanced Manuacturing Ecosystem Nike Portland

As the Advanced Manufacturing, Ecosystem Senior Director for Nike’s Manufacturing Revolution initiative, you will play a critical role building upon Nike’s rich innovation history. It will be your responsibility to drive Nike’s global source base to new heights through aggressive, disruptive thinking and creative problem solving. As a member of the Advanced Manufacturing leadership team, you will work daily with experienced leaders who are on the forefront of rapidly transferring innovative technologies and processes to product design and production. Working with these colleagues, you will create a broad range of internal and external partnerships that will change Nike’s current manu facturing process and ecosystem.

Your primary responsibility will be to guide the team creating a new manufacturing supply chain for Nike that aligns manufacturing, technology, suppliers and partners. This will entail:

Lead the design, development and creation of a North American footwear materials supply chain.

Set the short-term and long-term strategy for finding, assessing, creating, qualifying and elevating dozens of suppliers across multiple countries.

Lead the complex business development negotiations required to create advantageous partnerships with new suppliers.

Ensure the supply chain is developed at a pace that enables Nike’s newly developed manufacturing capabilities. Ensure Advanced Manufacturing program goals are not undermined by a lack of supply chain capabilities.

Drive supply chain costs to equal and then lower levels than those of Nike’s existing Asian-based supply chain.

Lead the development and monitoring of key performance metrics to ensure the supply chain compliance and excellence. Ensure partners meet or exceed Nike’s Code of Conduct and applicable local country regulation. Ensure all Nike quality standards are met.

Work broadly across the complicated Nike Matrix to leverage all applicable talent and skills within the Company to accelerate and align the work. This will include working with people in boththe FootwearandApparelsidesofthebusiness.

Collaborate with Nike’s Government Affairs team to optimize global operations.

Partner with Nike’s Global Trade team to optimize the North America supply chain.

Buildandmanageanexpertteamthatdeliverstheresultslaidoutabove.

Doallthiswithaneyetowardsreplicatingitinadditionalgeographiclocations.

Doing all this requires a unique and experienced individual. You must have both a high IQ and high EQ. You must be a self-starter, flexible thinker and outstanding communicator who is extremely comfortable working cross-functionally and influencing different personalities and perspectives. You will need those skills as you work not only across the various Advanced Manufacturing teams but also across more than a dozen functions, living within Nike’s matrixed organization. Success will depend on your ability to quickly form both professional and personal relationships with colleagues and then drive to rigorous, well-communicated deliverables.

You must be on the cutting edge of world-class manufacturing practices and have a proven track record of starting, improving and optimizing supply chain operations on a large scale.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

Work Experience:

 15+ years total work experience.

 10+ years’ experience in the supply chain management and execution

Required Experience / Skills:

Proven capacity to build global supply chains - identifying, qualifying, developing and onboarding diverse suppliers.

Deep knowledge of traditional, modern and engineered materials and textiles with a focus on the footwear and apparel industries.

Proven business development capabilities including negotiations, contracts, etc.

Strong general business management and execution.

Ability to develop QA and QC standards both internally and with suppliers and contract manufacturers. A strong quality engineering background and experience with AQLs, product inspections, supplier qualifications, and audits.

Global trade expertise.

Understanding of all relevant country regulation and Nike Code of Conduct to ensure compliance to manufacturing standards in areas such as the environment, restricted substances, labor, health and safety, and risk management.

Team leadership and project management skills. Must be highly results-oriented and operate with a high sense of urgency.

Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Self-directed, persistent and comfortable working in ambiguous environments.

Hard working, no-nonsense attitude.

Passion for product and sport.

Ability to excel in a matrixed organized.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at once.

Valued Experience / Skills:

Footwear manufacturing and operations.

Footwear chemicals and commodity inputs.

Lean manufacturing.

Education:

Bachelor's degree, or the equivalent education and professional experience.

Related advanced degree is preferred.

Travel:

 Ability to travel domestically and internationally between 30-50% of the time.
