The Director of Communications for Military and Veteran Affairs will closely coordinate with Corporate Internal and External Communications to help drive strategy and execute tactics for communicating across our various stakeholders, including working with our field teams to ensure consistent messaging throughout the company. The ideal candidate is an excellent writer who can meet tight deadlines, is knowledgeable about print and digital media covering military affairs, and has the ability to research and advise leadership about developing relationships with key third-party organizations. Social media expertise is a must to engage with both traditional and non-traditional influencers. S/he must be a self-starter who thinks strategically and can handle multiple tasks simultaneously with efficiency and effectiveness. Experience working with, as well as with managing communications across both external and internal audiences is essential. S/he will have keen and creative public relations intuition and strong interpersonal and presentation skills. Additionally, s/he will plan and execute events that raise the profile of the company, our brand and reputation.




Core Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with Corporate Communications on proactive communications initiatives designed to support and promote Comcast's military community vision/strategy to external media as well as non-traditional influencer audiences.

- Write and edit communications materials and develop communications plans, including Intranet articles, talking points, executive scripts, blog posts and other types of materials.

- Effectively interface with senior management and develop strong executive relationships.

- Work in a dynamic and highly matrixed environment alongside External and Internal Communications, Human Resources, Marketing, Diversity & Inclusion, and Community Investment to promote and protect the Comcast brand.

- Provide guidance to communications teams and executives in crisis communications situations; manage crises directly as needed (on/off hours).

- Ensure messages are written appropriately for Comcast's diverse employee and community populations.

- Develop metrics to assess the effectiveness and impact of communications initiatives.

- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.

- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.





Minimum Requirements:

- Smart, creative, efficient leader who is passionate about working with the military community (military experience desired, but not required).

- Bachelor's degree required; business, communications or journalism discipline preferred.

- Minimum of 10-12+ years of relevant communications experience.

- Efficient, fast-working, results-oriented creative leader with good intuition for media opportunities and issues.

- Superior verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

- Thrives in a face-paced, exciting environment and can manage multiple projects, activities and deliverables simultaneously.

- Experience in developing, leading and executing communications strategies.

- Understanding and deep working knowledge of social media platforms.

- A 24/7 professional capable of juggling projects at night and/or on weekends, as needed.
