The director of product is responsible for the products and solutions that allow Viacom to offer advertisers a compelling value proposition, users an excellent product experience, internal stakeholders the tools they need to support efficient operations. Of course all of these goals will contribute to maximizing revenue. This person will oversee the digital ad stack from a product perspective working closely with sales, ad operations, content distribution and individual Viacom brands to have a strong voice in the company’s strategy to apply technology to monetization and responsibility to deliver solutions flawless across the Viacom portfolio.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Oversee the digital ad stack by maintaining a strong point of view on how Viacom can leverage the right mix of partner and home grown technologies to meet its business and product goals – express this POV clearly through a compelling product narrative
Partner with key stakeholders to draw out business requirements and deliver capabilities through a collaborative working model
Work across the organization to prioritize development of new features and capabilities and develop business cases that inform prioritization of ad platforms roadmap
Develop and oversee business programs that enable Viacom to meet its goals in areas like ad quality, efficient operations
Maintain a complete understanding of trends in advertising and technology and how Viacom can best position itself, clearly articulate this vision across the organization – themes of particular importance include programmatic ads, use of data and the convergence of TV and digital ad models
Work cross functionally to ensure technology gains successful traction by leading and participating in business initiatives and training programs. Supervise and write documentation and training materials
Strategically manage partnerships with key vendors (Adobe, Google, Freewheel etc.) to ensure a strong working relationship and optimal economics. Leverage an intimate understanding of partner capabilities and roadmaps to ensure Viacom is delivering the best possible capability set
Maintain an active and visible role in the ad-tech ecosystem to identify the best potential partners and lead a vetting process where opportunities exist, play an active role with the IAB and other relevant industry groups

Basic Qualifications

7-10 years product experience with close proximity to ad product or sales systems
Media company or sell side background preferred, will also consider experience within ad tech or ad agencies
Domain expertise: Deep understanding of ad tech ecosystem, preferably with sell side experience with a major media company and comfort in the B2B or SaaS space. Familiarity with ad serving and data management platforms – specifically Freewheel, DFP and Adobe Audience Manager
Product leadership: Can drive a product from conception to maturity by identifying a market opportunity and developing a solution that provides value to the customer. Capacity to work in an environment with tremendous complexity and multiple customers
Communication skills: Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to the full range of audiences
Resourcefulness: Finds a way to get from point a to point b when the answer isn’t obvious
Technical skills: Engineering background a plus, ability to go deep on technical issues to brainstorm and evaluate technical solutions and troubleshoot issues in partnership with engineering team required.
Executional chops: Can process a large volume of work in an ambiguous and fast changing environment. Can manage a complex project with many dependencies by seeing the big picture, managing the details and risks.

Bachelors degree preferred
