Director Government Reimbursement Sanofi Cambridge

The NA GA function is a part of the Global External Affairs team with a major focus on protecting and growing the NA businesses while promoting a sustainable innovation model with government officials and a variety of stakeholders in the health ecosystem.
The Director of Government Reimbursement uses extensive knowledge of healthcare policies and directly partakes in the regulatory process with government agencies on behalf of the company. The Director of Government Reimbursement must shape government program decisions, rules and access policies through direct advocacy, stakeholder advocacy (including trade groups), federal affairs lobbyists and other avenues. The Director works with global business units and External Affairs to assess impact and develop agreed upon external courses of action.

The Director of Government Reimbursement monitors and analyzes impact of regulatory and legislative measures on reimbursement and patient access to portfolio products, identifying current and future threats and opportunities in the area of payment, coverage/patient access, and margin impact. The role must develop and implement strategies that leverage government action to create reimbursement and market opportunities or cost avoidance for portfolio products.

The Director partners closely with Sanofi Genzyme’s functional and commercial teams to serve as a resident expert on nuisances of complex and ever changing government policy and to help the organization operationalize, prepare and understand business impact to and external stakeholders like patients, plans, physicians, and other providers.

Must comply with all Federal and State lobbying laws and registrations.

Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree. Advanced degree preferred
10+ years in the biopharmaceutical industry - must include government reimbursement experience
Professional Qualifications:

Ability to synthesize and communicate complex reimbursement information
Ability to set a vision and strategies to meet priorities
· Strong leadership skills

Effectively work with the government affairs and public affairs, commercial, External Affairs and field teams and external stakeholders to move the organizations policy positions and agendas forward through the media, legislative, regulatory and/or operational processes.
Forward thinking - proven understanding of policy and regulatory trends,

Very good communication skills, both oral and written
Excellent analytical skills and acumen
Excellent ability to forge new customer relationships
Ability to successfully work both within a team, an alliance, and independently
Ability to plan, organize and prioritize.
