Director Financial Controls Program Fidelity Investments Boston

This position is critical to the leadership of Fidelity’s Financial Controls Program, responsible for designing and implementing a Financial Controls Program throughout all of Fidelity’s business units and legal entities. The objectives of this program are to document and assess the processes and controls of financial processes across the firm. This high-visibility and impact position will closely partner with the business unit controllers and external partners to define the scope, develop project plans and lead and execute the documentation and assessment efforts.
This role will also have the opportunity to present approach, results and observations to finance and business leaders throughout Fidelity. This position will be part of Fidelity’s Controllership Function located in Boston, with activities supporting business units located in multiple cities such as Boston, MA; Jersey City, NJ; Westlake, TX; and Smithfield, RI. As such, 15%-25% travel may be necessary at times.

This role will be directly supporting the various Fidelity business unit Controllers and business leaders during the 2 – 3 year initial documentation and assessment efforts, which will provide excellent opportunities to learn about Fidelity’s many businesses and financial processes. After the Financial Controls Program is implemented, the Program team members will transition into the controllership organizations within the Fidelity business units to sustain and improve controllership practices and maintain the enhanced control environment.

Primary Responsibilities
Partner with business unit controllers and Financial Controls Program team to execute program objectives
Lead multiple work streams ensuring consistent application of project methodology and manage project teams
Coordinate and collaborate with external partners
Develop an understanding of business processes and controls
Meet with process owners and conduct interviews and walkthroughs
Prepare flowcharts, control matrices, narratives and controls testing plans of applicable financial processes
Evaluate the current state of the control environment and individual controls
Identify control risks and deficiencies and recommend improvements
Qualifications



Education and Experience
10-15 years public accounting or public/private mix
Experience in public company SOX implementation highly desirable
Extensive experience in controls assessment and documentation; ideally on initial engagements
Experience in interviewing clients and interpreting client data
Skills and Knowledge
Familiarity with complex/matrixed client or corporate environments
Thorough understanding and experience with Sarbanes Oxley
Project management experience
Understanding of US GAAP
IT audit experience helpful
Financial services industry experience highly desirable
Strong collaboration, influencing and communications skills
Manage team members
Ability to work as integral part of high-performing team
