We are looking for a leader who can enhance and evolve a world-class data platform. The system includes a legacy data warehouse built using traditional technologies, that we are actively migrating away from, as well as a new robust big data platform which will replace all of our old system. As the director for this department, you will be responsible for driving the technical vision for the overall architecture, leading and growing the data engineering organization and partnering with our business on overall data strategy.
Skills and Requirements

Prior experience leading large teams and building a modern data organization in an internet or technology industry to support business intelligence, analytics, data science and data products.
Deep understanding of traditional and modern data ingestion, data storage, data processing and data access technologies.
Experience with traditional data warehouse design and development including star schemas, OLAP cubes, modeling structured and semi-structured data, Informatica, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Teradata, Greenplum, Redshift, SQLServer, etc.
Experience with modern data technologies Hadoop, Hive, Map Reduce, Tez, Spark, Sqoop, Kafka, Flume.
Experience with workflow management technologies such as Airflow, Oozie, Azkaban, Luigi, etc.
Understanding of data analysis and visualization tools such as Tableau, Business Objects, Qlik, etc.
Experience processing large volume data from internal sources (web logs, relational DB’s, noSQL DB’s) and also from external partners (Google Analytics, Sendgrid, etc).
Passion for data mining and machine learning and experience building, shipping and scaling consumer facing data products.
Experience working in public cloud environments like AWS, Rackspace, etc.
Experience with modern programming languages like Java, Python, Ruby, etc.
Experience implementing monitoring, quality assurance, data validation processes in a big data environment.
Ability to interpret business requirements to formulate technical solutions and also to decide among competing technical solutions.
Excellent communication skills and experience in collaborative environments.
Ability to constructively resolve conflict and drive the team towards business goals.
Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
BS or MS in a quantitative field such as computer science, physics, math, engineering, or economics
