This Director position is a leadership role responsible for Financial Reporting and data management. The Director will support the broader CFO organization with data management, architecture, integration and access. The Director will work with IT to manage the Finance data environment and the Financial Reporting function. A portion of the Director’s time will be dedicated to the creation of a Finance Data Environment and will require the use of sound data modeling practices and flexible logic to pull and integrate data from a large number of disparate, unrelated data sources and systems.
The Financial Reporting function has ownership of all bookings, billings, revenue, discounting, retention, and cost data for the company, including both the inputs used by accounting teams for SEC filings, internal P&Ls, and all other internal financial reporting used for performance management, compensation, business strategy, and general analytics. This role presents a significant opportunity for a strong business leader with technical capabilities to collaborate cross-functionally and deliver substantial impact for the company.
Responsibilities:
Oversee and direct financial reporting activities across the finance organization
Oversee the preparation of reporting data across the finance organization
Build cross-functional relationships and collaborate with various technical and business stakeholders
Build and lead a team to design, build, and maintain finance data environments, define key metrics, and assist in developing dashboards and reports to support multiple business functions
Identify, research, analyze, segment, load, link, and integrate disparate data sets from both internal and external sources and systems, such as ERPs, CRMs, EDI partner feeds, primary research, manual adjustment tools, etc.
Evaluate data sources on usage, coverage, accuracy, strengths, weaknesses, and relability with other data sets, documenting data flows, usability, and data element definitions
Measure and report performance for business units and functional organizations
Significantly improve company agility and efficiency by automating business processes, streamlining technical data flows, and simplifying data logic
Design and support reporting platforms/tools to enable access to financial data across the company
Effectively communicate with a wide variety of teams about both technical and business issues, spanning the gap between finance, the business units, and the technical IT teams
Qualifications:
Graduate degree in Finance, Business, Computer Science or related field required
7-10 years financial reporting and analysis experience, including at least 4 years of experience managing teams
Strong finance background and understanding of GAAP and accounting principles; Additional business experience (operations, sales, marketing, strategy, etc.) preferred
Demonstrated experience and progressive responsibility in leading and developing a team of finance associates
Strong mathematical/analytical background with an ability to analyze data strategically, understand complex problems, and formulate actionable recommendations
Strong understanding of SQL, data modeling, data relationships, data architecture and data integration
Experience with data/reporting tools such as SPSS, R, SAS, QlikView, Tableau, Hyperion Essbase, SSIS, Business Objects, etc. required
Proven ability to manage a team for impact
Highly motivated, proactive; strategic thinker/doer
Results- and detail-oriented with strong collaborative and partnering skills
Excellent communication skills, cross functional experience and strong interpersonal skills
