Job Description
* Manage time & attendance and payroll processes to ensure the accuracy and timely processing for all employees in accordance with Company policy, union contracts and federal/state regulations* Responsible for payroll-related accounting activities and related monthly and year end reporting (variance analysis, productivity analysis etc.)
* Responsible for providing labor related reports/data to assist in the overall Company management of labor expense
* Manage payroll administrators and analyst
* Responsible for the documentation and identification of payroll processes and key internal controls over financial reporting (compliance with SOX)
* Identify process improvements and implement them
* Responsible for assisting with and providing payroll data to internal and external auditors
* Responsible for providing timely accurate data to third party actuaries to assist with the compliance, valuation and operation of the post retirement plans
* Manage, coach and develop team members
* Manage outsourced vendors and system providers including the compliance with service levels agreements
* Maintain documentation, provide reporting and processing of Executive compensation
* Provide management training throughout the Company with regards to payroll related systems
* Provide assistance and input into the development/implementation of Company wide systems impacting the capture and processing of labor expense
* Serve as a liason between Company and union as required related to payroll
Desired Skills & Experience
* Minimum 8 years of experience working in Payroll with at least 3-5 years managing the Payroll function* Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), including Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
* Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax reporting requirements
* Experience with time and attendance systems; proficiency with MS office suite (excel and word)
* Experience with vendor management
* Experience leading a team, including delegation and influencing skills
* Strong analytical abilities, including the ability to troubleshoot problems, recognize areas for process improvements and identify and communicate trends
* Ability to prioritize, manage time and resources effectively and adapt to rapidly changing priorities and meet required deadlines
* Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to make decisions and recommendations based on data and analysis
* Strong proficiency in Word and Excel
* Experience managing department-level budget
Preferred Requirements:
* CPA
* 3-5 years public accounting
* Familiarity with the airline industry and airline accounting practices
