AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and experienced Director for immediate employment in the New Orleans, LA office. The Director will lead in the development and delivery of restoration and development projects along the Gulf Coast area and represent AECOM as a major provider in the coastal marketplace managing coastal engineering or restoration type programs.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Leading in the development and delivery of major coastal projects along the Gulf Coast area with the ability to lead a technical team
Possess the expertise and skills to market and assist in securing projects in the $10M to $1B and above range
Excellent marketing and presentation skills and ability to represent AECOM as a major provider of coastal engineering, coastal planning studies, environmental services, construction and construction management services, along with alternative delivery system programs
Attending local, state, and federal stakeholder and client meetings throughout the Gulf Coast
Interact with and assist in the development of AECOM Gulf Coast staff on the development of marketing strategies, capture plans, scopes, schedules, and budgets on coastal projects and programs
Participation and coordination with staff at the local, state, federal, and stakeholder level, showing the expertise of AECOM in the coastal marketplace; will participate in the presentation of technical papers, attending programs and seminars
This position will travel up to 50% of the time to various locations throughout the Gulf Coast
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in coastal engineering or related field
15+ years of experience managing coastal studies
Thorough understanding of coastal environments including:
Big picture assessments for comprehensive master planning for a sustainable coast
Environmental studies and reports
Effectively and efficiently negotiating the regulatory environment process
Understanding of river hydrodynamics and coastal processes
Engineering of coastal protection systems, offshore dredging, and mitigation strategies
Living shorelines
Socioeconomic and cost analysis of restoration type programs
Keen knowledge of the coastal programs in the Gulf Coast states and the ability to coordinate with local, state and federal officials both executing the projects as well as those on the regulatory and funding side of the programs
Knowledge of federal regulatory and funding mechanisms/programs for funding coastal programs/projects; this includes the B.P. Restore Act; have relationships and/or the ability to interact with those agencies administering the B.P. Restore Act (i.e., the B.P. Restore Committee, NRDA Funding Trust Committee, etc,) and the ability to market to those agencies
Valid driver’s license required
Preferred Qualifications
PhD or advanced education in coastal engineering or a related field
20+ years of related experience
Registration as a Professional Engineer
Prior experience as a tenured professor at a major university involved in coastal studies and/or an equivalent experience as a director or program lead for public sector coastal programs at a state or federal level
