Director Cloud Operations Splunk San Francisco

In this global leadership role, the Director of Cloud Operations will provide strategic direction and tactical execution to Splunk’s global cloud operations, incorporating Splunk’s cloud solutions. The successful candidate will bring several years of industry experience, reputation and credibility to Splunk, and be the focal point for the company’s initiatives to scale its business in this core market. He/she will lead a team, both direct and indirect staff, across the company. Splunk Cloud is a SaaS offering of our on-premise Splunk Enterprise product. On this front, the ideal candidate will bring experience setting the strategy for continuing expansion of the service, including infrastructure, resiliency, continuity, security, and compliance mandates. This role will be responsible for working across Engineering, Product Management, Adoption and Support teams to define, select and implement next generation infrastructure and services as the cloud business grows and expands globally.
The Director of Cloud Operations will report to the SVP of Cloud Solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:

Working with product management, influencing product strategy, developing business plans and delivering cloud-based operational services.
Selection and management of vendor portfolio for operations, managed services, 3rd-party software and infrastructure facilities for Splunk cloud services, including onshore/offshore consulting/contracting services.
Management of compliance/attestations for Splunk cloud services including SOC2, ISO27001, PCI, HIPAA and FedRAMP certifications.
Budget accountability for Cloud Operations services including COGS and Capital planning.
Use of Splunk and other complimentary tools to establish world class monitoring, capacity planning, security & compliance, and web/business analytics capabilities.
Establishment and communication of core metrics for Cloud operations functions.

Requirements:

8 to 12 years prior experience in similar roles and relevant background
Customer service focus, with advanced listening, influencing, and leadership capacity
Excellent vendor negotiation and management skills, including global contracts
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate effectively with several cross-functional business partners
Experience building and managing global operations teams
Excellent program/project management skills including all phases of project lifecycle
Leadership in driving security and compliance initiatives a must
Superior written and oral communication skills; strong presentation skills
Experience building and managing SaaS or managed services offerings
Experience with Splunk software is a plus Education:
BS/BA Degree, preferably with a strong technical acumen
