Job Description:
The Director of Engineering is responsible for overseeing technology across all platforms for WME|IMG’s new Over-The-Top (OTT) video businesses — including Web, iOS and Connected TV platforms. The ideal candidate is both a leader who can drive the technology roadmap and a hands-on engineer who loves to roll up their sleeves and write code when necessary. The Director of Engineering will own responsibility for managing, troubleshooting and evolving our technology stack across web, mobile, and streaming platforms, and helping to define and oversee development of new products and new platforms.
The Director of Engineering will be a key member of a small team that operates as a lean, internal startup focused on launching new over-the-top (OTT) digital video networks — including the first-ever video network to launch directly on Apple TV (http://M2M.TV), and several new OTTs that are currently being developed.
The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial and knows how to get things done, even with limited resources and primarily by working with vendors and freelancers. At the same time, they must be very collaborative, and able to work closely with product, editorial, audience growth, data/analytics, and executive stakeholders.
The Director should be a master of software development and architecture best practices, and know how to balance go-to-market needs while staying mindful of technical debt and the risks of vendor lock-in. Experience with Amazon Web Services, HTML5, JavaScript, native mobile applications and other languages as well as third party vendor solutions is a must. Experience with video products, iOS and subscription services is preferred.
Responsibilities:
Oversee a robust platform for managing, encoding, delivering, viewing, and monetizing digital video experiences across a multi-platform ecosystem

Champion for QA, TDD, unit testing, performance, and high-quality user experience
Manage Amazon Web Services infrastructure

Monitor health and optimize applications for performance and scalability
Dig into code and troubleshoot when needed
Requirements:
Comprehensive knowledge and experience working in digital media
7-10 years of professional software engineering and leadership experience
Experience developing in multiple languages including JavaScript Ruby, Python Java, C++/Objective C
Fluency coding in HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, NodeJS, NPM, Ember, Angular

Knowledge of DBMS including MongoDB, Redis, Memcache ,Varnish, CDNS
Ability to utilize Rest APIs and Git and work with Relational and NoSQL databases
Experience with native apps on iOS, Android, and other emerging platforms
Passionate about entertainment/luxury retail and IMG|WME clients is a plus
Able to solve complex challenges even with limited resources, staying mindful of balancing go-to-market needs with technical debt and risks of vendor lock-in
