Senior Director Wi-Fi Network Engineering Comcast Philadelphia

Job Description:
Responsible for the core network engineering of the XFINITY Wi-Fi network, which encompasses over 12 million access points, in residential, business, and public environments. Staff are located in Philadelphia PA and Reston VA.
Core Responsibilities Include

Oversee the evolution and roadmap of the XFINITY Wi-Fi core network
Develop and enhance back office and provisioning architecture to meet the scale and feature demands of the business
Enhance the policy management and enforcement architecture
Develop advance wireless routing architecture to seamlessly blend the XFINITY Wi-Fi experience across all environments
Planning and budgeting for equipment acquisition and deployment
Oversee technology development lab and field trials
Management of 3rd party vendor support
Develop comprehensive system documentation
Working with the business units on short term and long range planning and vision
Managing a multi-location operations organization

Additional Responsibilities May Include

Responsible for overseeing the directing of implementation of key
strategies related to the research, design, and development of new
products and applications. Oversees both strategic and technical
initiatives. Leads team and Business Partners in the continuous
improvement of processes and standards. Develops and manages budget.
Provides leadership and direction for diverse and complex functions.
Contributes to the development of the organization's business strategy.
Interprets business strategy and develops organizational objectives to
align with this strategy. Typically manages multiple teams of
professionals.
Oversees the initial development and architecture of designs for
future products and applications that best support the Company's
technology and engineering roadmap.
Oversees the drive of design and development strategies across
platforms, teams, and third parties. Evaluates solutions presented to
the Company by various partners and vendors. Oversees case studies,
testing, and reporting.
Provides leadership and direction to Technical Research and
Development management and staff by setting goals, objectives,
performance criteria, and departmental standards.
Directs research of new technology areas. Analyzes and evaluates
changes in technology and defines current and future departmental
objectives. Leverages relationships with industry partners to keep
current with technological developments within the industry; develops
new standards and monitors and evaluates competitive applications and
products.
Provides business, marketing, and product management units with
consultation on latest technological trends and developments and their
potential bottom-line impact. Ensures the continuous improvement of
processes and standards.
Evaluates project estimates, resource needs quotes, and timeline
projections to make budgeting decisions to provide department with
appropriate resources and staff. Oversees schedules of product releases
and project time tables.
Goes to the table with technical and business unit heads to evangelize
about the advantages of new products and applications. Presents
concepts and technical information in common terms to end user(s).
Provides unit heads with bottom-line impacting information to influence
business decisions and help the Technical & Research Development
department achieve short- and long-term objectives.
Recruits, builds, and nurtures high performance team.
Schedules and moderates periodic meetings with staff to review recent
developments and plan/prioritize future activities.
Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters
of significance.
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work
nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Requirements

Minimum of ten years related experience
Bachelors Degree or equivalent, with Engineering or Computer Science degree preferred
Strong team player with a history of collaborative cross-organization development projects, building trust-oriented collaborative relationships, and leading technical teams in dynamic environments
Excellent interpersonal communications in written and oral mediums
Outstanding organizational skills; works well under pressure
Self-motivated and responsible, providing leadership by example
