Director Global Quality Systems Gates Corporation Denver

Job Description:
The Global Quality Systems Director will have responsibility for the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Gates Quality Management System to ensure full compliance with customer and industry quality requirements. This position will champion the development and implementation of standardized global process based quality systems that drive the organization in achieving quality objectives.
This position will devise and drive quality initiatives across the global enterprise that have successful and measureable impact on customer satisfaction, loyalty, quality costs, and productivity including budget, cost of poor quality, PPM defect rates, internal yields and new product quality across the organization. This position will create the buy in from key stakeholders, establish priorities in alignment with organizational goals, and drive results through a well-developed roadmap that elevates the quality culture of the company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned beyond the core functions listed below.

Responsible for the development, implementation, and advancement of a process based Gates quality management systems (QMS) in compliance with international quality standards including ISO/TS16949, ISO9001, ISO/IEC17025 and ISO14001, as well as customer and industry standards: SAE, UL, etc. As the Gates QMS system is to contain standardized policy and best practice procedures utilized in all regions, there will be significant coordination with regional resources in development and implementation.
Actively participate in Quality Leadership Meetings to establish and execute short & long term strategic plans involving quality management system and tool advancement.
Support and lead management system development projects as an expert in QMS standards and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP): Change Management Process (ECR-ECN), Risk Management (FMEA), Internal Audit, Management Review, High Severity Escape Management, etc.

Key participant and/or champion for improvement initiatives and deployments of quality related IT systems as assigned: Document Control, Corrective and Preventive Action (eQIM), Real-Time SPC (E.g. Infinity QS), etc.

Leading/participating on teams to assure the integration of new acquisitions into the Gates Quality Management System

Lead corrective action teams as assigned in completing failure analysis, root cause identification, and corrective/preventive action using best practice methodologies such as 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone Diagrams, DMAIC and PDCA.

Responsible for the coordination/reporting of quality metrics to the organization that indicate customer satisfaction, and the efficiency and effectiveness of quality management systems.

Maintain and update the Global Quality Website (Gateway Global Quality Pages) and SharePoint Global QMS document control pages

Supervisory Responsibilities

This role has no direct reports.
The position will work with regional quality personnel through quality functional / indirect reporting structures to achieve quality improvement objectives.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Bachelor of Science (BS) undergraduate college degree or equivalent in a technical discipline (E.g. Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, etc.).
8+ years of experience in quality assurance roles, including experience as a Plant Quality Manager in a manufacturing environment.
Must have experience in management or development of an ISO/TS16949 based quality management system.
Must have experience in leading and facilitating project teams.

Required Skills

Working knowledge of automotive industry quality management standards (AIAG - APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, etc.) and quality assurance problem solving tools (E.g. 5-Why, Cause & Effect Diagrams, DOE, 8D, etc.)
A strong leader with excellent communication and organizational agility skills that have resulted in a track record of successful objective completions.
Drive, intelligence, and high expectations of getting results through self and team.
Experience partnering with business and functional leaders on developing and driving global or regional initiatives is preferred.
Change management leadership capability
High level interpersonal and leadership skills with capability to influence, coach, and partner across multiple levels and locations/regions of the company
Strong proficiency using common PC applications: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Visio, MS Office, MS SharePoint, MS PowerPoint
Experience utilizing quality assurance PC Applications: Minitab, SPC Applications, etc.
Certification as a Quality Engineer (CQE), Quality Manager (CQM), Quality Auditor (CQA) or Six Sigma Black Belt through ASQ or an equivalent certification is preferred, but not required.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Work Environment

Frequent travel up to 50% of the time is required for this position. This travel can include global travel to all regions where Gates Corporation conducts business and has operations facilities.
