Senior Director of Communications Evernote San Francisco

Job Description:
As the Senior Director of Communications, you'll have the opportunity to create a compelling narrative through development and execution of the company’s communication strategies. Your goal should be to raise awareness and positive perceptions of Evernote through high impact public relations strategies and campaigns, working directly with stakeholders across the organization including the executive team and management of external agencies. Responsibilities:
Creating and executing public relations/communication plans that directly support the company’s core product and corporate goals.
Managing the US PR agency and working effectively with the global PR leads for LatAm, EMEA, China, Japan, and APAC to ensure a comprehensive corporate story is being told.
Working with product marketing, customer support, account management, analytics, or other internal teams to cultivate compelling customer success, innovation, or trend stories for the media.
Collaborating with product and partnership marketing leads to support fully integrated campaigns and major partnership and platform launches.
Proactively maintaining relationships with top tier writers, editors, and tech influencers; know who to go to with Evernote news.
Delivering effective performance management through setting clear goals and reporting results to the leadership team and key stakeholders, and occasionally, across the company.
Creating thought leadership campaigns that may include writing/assisting in the creation of bylines, presentations, and scripts.
Coaching the executive team and leadership team on messaging, media savviness, storytelling, and answering tough questions for any audience.
Budgeting the annual/quarterly public relations spend across the global communications team.
Keeping a finger on the pulse, you’ll advise the leadership team on trending topics in the tech and business media and when appropriate, how Evernote fits in.
Desired Skills and Experience
Skills Required:
8+ years previous experience in house, agency-side, or ideally, a combination of the two.
Well-versed in tech comms, with a blend of consumer-facing and B2B experience. Having worked on products with a true global reach is a plus.
Active working relationships with key media. You know who the top journalists in your space are, what they’re writing about, and can probably even get them to pick up the phone.
Have worked directly with Executive teams on media tours, messaging exercises, and in contextualizing the work your team has accomplished for them.
Very strong writing and editing skills, experience editing executive-produced pieces, replete with examples that illustrate ability to adapt to both topic and voice.
A strong bias for taking action, detail-oriented, decisive, and organized.
Demonstrated ability to take the 30,000 foot view straight down to the details.
Have a sense of humor. No, seriously, be funny.
