Director IT Business Relationship Management TV Finance Sony Pictures Entertainment Culver City

Job Description:
The Director, Business Relationship Manager (BRM) will have responsibility for TV Finance applications and projects, including Domestic & International TV Distribution, Domestic and International Production, Domestic Networks and Syndication Ad Sales. The role will interface with Finance Executives and Managers and will support the following functional areas - Accounting; Billing & Collections, Budgeting, Finance and Business Development. The role requires a track record delivering on projects and supporting applications in the aforementioned functional areas.
The ideal person will also have an understanding of TV business processes and associated value-chain services, (i.e. Title & Rights, Sales, Finance, Royalties, and Participations & Corporate Finance).

The role requires a combination of business acumen and domain knowledge to manage relationships with business stakeholders. The Director MUST be responsive, results-oriented, hands-on and involved in the details of projects and day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities include:

CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
• Serving as the primary liaison between IT and the Business by defining IT demand and delivering technology to fulfill business strategy.
• Building relationships with key business executives as a trusted business partner.
• Facilitating open communication and discussion between stakeholders. Capturing and disseminating technical and business information to functional and technical resources. Working closely with functional and technical team to monitor progress of projects and ensure solutions meet business expectations.
• Interacting with and involving external stakeholders as required (Corporate Finance/SAP, Outside Participations, Residuals).
• Providing VIP support in conjunction with and on behalf of the Global Service Desk, acting as a point of escalation for incidents with high business impact.

STRATEGIC PLANNING / DELIVERY OVERSITE
• Managing enhancement and project budgets for Financial applications in the TV line of business
• Leading strategic IT projects for TV Finance. Work with business Stakeholders in TV Finance as well as external Stakeholders and IT groups with respect to justification and prioritization of projects and enhancements.
• Understanding the landscape of financial functions and systems to develop a reference architecture for TV.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT/TEAM MANAGEMENT
• Managing a small team of analysts responsible for preparing requirements for medium/large enhancements. Work with users to prioritize enhancements and establish a release plan. Coordinate work with tech lead and onshore/offshore team (when required).
• Providing leadership and management oversite to the team - comprised of employees and service providers to drive and own the definition of business requirements. Oversee project teams and matrixed resources from the Application Development Maintenance (ADM) organization.
• Leveraging the enterprise’s IT organization, infrastructure and technology capabilities to deliver business results.

DEMAND MANAGEMENT
• Managing demand for application work and prioritizing enhancement requests and new development across the business portfolio. Working with the DCIO/RCIO to manage demand across the Line of Business or region. Reporting status on that demand back to business constituents.
• Ensure that all demand from the business enters IT pipeline appropriately and reporting status on that demand back to business constituents.
Desired Skills and Experience
The candidate MUST:

· Possess an innate desire to succeed in building first-class systems to support the complex, changing world of Media and Entertainment
· Possess analytical skills as well as ability to envision and express innovative yet practical options for change
· Be inquisitive and willing to ask questions.
· Be able to develop a vision and sell it
· Be experienced in defining the details of a strategic roadmap.
· Be comfortable selling new concepts and ideas internally
· Have experience as a consultant or facilitator
· Be able to lead complex delivery scenarios and coach developing resources in delivery
· Have 7-10 years in managing custom development projects with DIRECT involvement in the solution architecture. Strong understanding of multiple software delivery life cycle methodologies
· Have strong functional development and UI (user interface) design background
· Be solution oriented and a hands-on troubleshooter
· Be driven and focused on delivering results
· Be mature and effective at managing client relationships. He/she must be able to make tough calls and be willing to push back when required. Must have at least 3+ years of experience managing leadership-level business relationships
· Be an effective leader of people and teams. Have a proven track record of mentoring and building strong teams (consultants or employees) to deliver on projects.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess the following experience:

o Accounting, financial applications and financial workflows and processes
o Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
o Interaction with Offshore Development and QA teams
o Project management and project management oversight, including budget and performance tracking and risk mitigation strategies
o Creation of all project inception and initiation deliverables, including vision document, business case/cost benefit analysis, and high level requirements specifications
o Assessment and recommendation of resources and skills needed to successfully complete the project(s) and achieve the business and IT goals
o Conformance with established SDLC standards and compliance-based demands of financial application development
o For projects involving third parties, the project manager is accountable for ensuring that clear specifications are developed and communicated to the third parties (e.g. Preferred Service Providers), including criteria for acceptance of the outputs from the third parties
o Familiarity with the ITIL Framework and demand processes across the IT organization
o Knowledge of Enterprise IT Strategy, ITIL, IT Best Practice and Change Delivery
