The Dow Chemical Employees' Credit Union, who serves over 57,000 members with over $1.5 billion in assets, is seeking a Director of Consumer Lending department, reporting to the Vice President of Lending, who will be responsible for the overall success of the Consumer Lending Department's operation and production. This includes generating indirect loans and this is accomplished by developing, cultivating and maintaining new and existing business relationships in their respective market. They will manage all aspects of consumer lending and dealer relationships, including, generating loan volume, promotions, managing the efficiency, profitability and service levels.
Develops new business relationships with auto dealers in a large territory.
Researches, develops and implements new loan products and services that meet the strategic plan, loan policy, and regulations
Actively participate in all advertising, pricing, marketing, compensation/incentives and sales automation for Consumer Lending.
Analyze monthly management reports and develop key performance indicators to ensure that all metrics of departmental success are achieved.
Manage consumer lending vendors, partnerships and participation relationships. Negotiate contracts and leverage relationship for service expectations.
Responsible for understanding industry trends, competition within target market and signs of dealer performance. Direct periodic analysis of competitive environment.
Perform all duties inherent to a managerial role: challenge and develop staff to be more effective, efficient and satisfied with the work they perform for the Credit Union and its members.
Essential Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge of various dealer finance and indirect consumer lending products and services and credit decisions
Vendor/Dealer management skills, including ability to build strong and lasting business relationships.
Indirect and direct lending experience both in the state of Michigan and out of state
Ability to lead and influence others
Refined negotiation skills
Independent judgment on lending issues that are complex, interpretive and evaluative in nature
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent required
Ten plus years consumer lending and / or credit experience, of which five to seven years must have been in progressive, leadership capacity.
