Director Technology Carhartt Dearborn

Job Description:
The Director of Technology Systems Support is responsible for the definition, justification and delivery of IT infrastructure projects and the support of IT systems. Accountabilities include leading a staff of IT employees and consultants; Playing a key role in optimizing approaches and processes to enhance system hosting, reliability and availability. Must be able to serve as chief architect for the company insuring that technologies are strategic, protected, secure and available. Must also be able to manage budgets, timelines, issues and risks in order to successfully implement each phase of company/department initiatives.
Representative Responsibilities:
Responsible for the oversight and strategic direction of support, enhancement, modification and improvement of IS corporate system infrastructure (SAP, Microsoft Windows etc.).
Develop a multi-year IT strategy with needs of application systems and business needs under the direction of the CIO.
Manage and maintain processes and solutions which enable business functions; build configuration, integration, testing and implementation of a prioritized number of enhancements.
Collaborate with the leadership and sponsor committees to insure that business benefits are achieved.
Ensure IS and business management are correctly advised of issues, statuses, change requests, key decisions, schedules, release requirements, and metrics.
Provide the metrics to measure success of accomplishments, change and readiness.
Initiate, lead, communicate, and reflect on change by being a change agent as appropriate.
Define and oversee a business recovery plan for all relevant Carhartt IT components.
Build IT systems capabilities, which reflect the highest state of technical sophistication consistent with the corporation’s needs and budget.
Oversee yearly operational and capital budget, including managing the procurement and implementation of new hardware and systems.
Oversight and management of the server and storage infrastructure, mobile infrastructure including mobile phones and tablets, wide/local area networks and telecommunications systems.
Oversee the architecture and management of highly available SAP systems, Legacy Systems and of a growing ecommerce environment.
Responsible for the architecture and integration of new business applications with legacy applications.
Responsible for application performance management and monitoring using a wide range of tools.
Responsible for the computing infrastructure at Carhartt facilities.
Initiate, lead, communicate, and reflect on change by being a change agent as appropriate.
Lead timeline/resource planning, budgeting process and project management related to initiatives required to meet department goals.
Responsible for team performance, individual development, and coaching/mentoring direct reports.
Desired Skills and Experience
Entry Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science, Management Information Services or related field and/or equivalent years of experience required. Master Degree preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in a broad range of IT areas including managing SAP and Microsoft environments, software development, Data warehousing, operating systems, hardware administration, and networks required.
2-4 years of senior IT infrastructure leadership experience required.
Strong IT technical background with understanding of software, hardware, networks and the internet required.
Proven experience in deploying to and managing cloud environments
Ability to act as a change agent and technical visionary and effective at tying business and IT strategies together.
Experience in developing, implementing and evolving enterprise IT architectures.
Budget management experience required.
Proven ability to lead the development of systems and projects.
Strong project management skills.
Adaptable and with intellectual agility to thrive in a demanding, fast moving and customer focused environment.
Robust and persuasive, with highly developed interpersonal and management skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the proven ability to communicate with all levels including management and retail partners.
Outstanding organizational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and attention to detail.
Working Conditions:
Typical office environment; office setting. Extended periods of time sitting, standing, typing on a computer is required.
Light lifting may be required. 5 LBS
Willing to work some weekends if necessary.
National and International travel required (up to 25%).
