Job description
Summary
Leads the Field Service Engineering team in direct support of new business development efforts at CDTx. Manages Field Service Engineering resources to engage with customers in the sales process from requirements definition through the product development cycle. Builds relationships with the customer’s technical organizations and develops an understanding of the customer’s technology goals. Develops field technical support strategies to support CDTx solutions to meet the customer’s goals. Works closely with the CDTx sales team during the sales process to insure field engineering resources are engaged in all new business opportunities and existing customer accounts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Field System Engineering team
Establish resource assignments that allocate field systems engineering to new business opportunities and existing accounts
Prioritize resources based on coordination with the sales team for new business opportunities and demand for technical support in existing customer accounts
Builds relationships with key customer stakeholders, especially in the technical organization, to insure effective communication throughout the sales process and as a cornerstone of the ongoing customer support process.
Understands the customer’s current programs and forward looking technology requirements
Engage with technology companies in the markets we serve to assess current market trends and
Support DTx sales/business development staff as a direct engineering & management resource for new business opportunities and existing customer accounts
Meet with customers face to face and through normal business communications to support the following activities:
Develop the key relationships with customer technical teams
Understand customer product design/development goals
Determine technology interests/alternatives to meet customer goals
Present technology trends information to support product/design evaluation
Insure CDTx field engineering team develops/documents customer requirements for specific projects/opportunities
Participate in bid/no-bid decisions to pursue new business opportunities
Engage CDTx and CDTx partner subject matter experts to support solution development
Engage with CDTx suppliers and partners for product/service research, selection and solution development
Manage the development of product/service design alternatives and DTx proposed solutions
Insure the CDTx field engineering team effectively presents and reviews design alternatives and trade-off considerations
Conduct design reviews with customers and CDTx development engineering
Engage other CDTx engineering resources as necessary to support Field Systems Engineering objectives
Manage the field engineering team engagement with the development team for quote process and initial proof of concept product builds to insure technical requirements are met
Manage the field engineering team responses to technical questions, issues, changes and problems identified during the customer engagement process
Travel to customer locations for face to face meetings
Conduct customer presentations for all technical aspects of the engagement process from DTx capabilities overview to proposed design/product solutions
Travel: Travel expectations for this position may be up to 50%
Desired Skills and Experience
B.S. Degree in Engineering required. Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science degrees preferred. Candidate must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in areas of electrical, electro-mechanical and/or computer hardware/software engineering. 5 years minimum experience in customer facing technical sales roles with responsibilities including face to face customer engagement and relationship building at the engineering and management levels. Team management experience preferred. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing customer demands. Ability to manage and drive competing requests across simultaneous customer projects
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Valid Drivers License.
A plus certification desired
