Job Description:
Boingo Wireless is searching for a talented, full time Director, Network Engineering to lead Boingo's Network Engineering, and IT organization. This key position will be responsible for prioritizing and implementing complex network solutions while assuring performance levels, customer experience and network uptime meets/exceeds service plan definitions. This Director level position must be a visionary in all technical aspects of Wired/Wireless network technologies and align the Team's efforts with long term strategic priorities.
The successful candidate will understand and thrive in an autonomous work environment with the ability to lead highly technical teams through high profile and projects and changing requirements
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage engineering groups to support corporate IT infrastructure including systems, network, and Microsoft technology.
Lead complex and high visibility end to end projects through design, budgeting, testing, implementation and performance monitoring
Oversee the management and operational support with external vendors
Manage the processes and procedures to promote changes from Development, QA, Beta, Staging, and finally Production environment.
Manage and provide assistance in the definition of technical design and requirements for IT infrastructure upgrades, installations, architecture improvements, and support activities.
Develop and manage annual CapEx/Opex budget in line with overall strategic priorities
Create training and professional development plans for systems and network engineers.
Perform managerial duties such as reviewing vacation requests, training, timesheets, and employee performance appraisals.
Provide ongoing constructive and critical feedback to employees regarding their performance as warranted.
Perform other duties/projects as requested by senior management.
REQUIREMENTS:
15 years of experience working with systems and network engineering.
5-7 years management experience supporting corporate infrastructure including systems and network.
Demonstrated experience with LAN/WAN technologies preferably in an Engineering role
Demonstrated experience with process and project management in an ITIL or Agile environment
Demonstrated leadership, communication, and customer service skills, including experience communicating to senior-level executives and 3rd party customers.
Experience with developing and executing IT strategic plans in collaboration with business and technical organizations.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with discretion and sound independent judgment.
Experience in design and application of SDN/NFV solutions
Demonstrated experience in Data Center facilities management
Knowledge of cloud-based networking solutions.
An appreciation and focus on the full stack of technologies driving a solution/experience including network, systems, application, data and monitoring
An analytical mindset with the ability to visualize, articulate, and solve both complex and uncomplicated problems and concepts, and make decisions that make sense based on available information
Strong interpersonal skills through keen understanding of their own behavior and work style with tolerance of other’s styles, needs and viewpoints. Consideration for others through courtesy, respect, humility and a service oriented attitude.

Experience in leading highly technical Teams in complex environments
Minimum 4-year degree in Computer Science or related field.
