Senior Director - Marketing - NCSOFT - Aliso Viejo


Job description
This role heads up the Marketing group which includes all Brand management, the Creative team and the CRM team. This department is responsible for ensuring our products achieve commercial and critical success via 1) Ensuring strong demand for our franchises both at launch and on a long term ‘live service’ basis 2) Innovative and strong CRM activity and, finally, great creative execution that resonates and is clear with our audience. The role is also charged with ensuring very strong dialogue with other departments within the publishing team and also the development groups within the company as well as across other teams including Exec.

Scope of Position:
The role is a senior part of the North American and European publishing team and is vital to NCSoft Wests success. It will include responsibilities for
North American and European brand activity on Wildstar and other NCW titles
Management of Marketing budgets in the Tens of millions
Ensuring delivery of revenues in the hundreds of millions
Ensuring delivery of specific commitments e.g. chart position, unit sales, etc, etc

Responsibilities:
25% - Build and manage an industry leading Marketing team to include Brand, CRM and Creative functions
20% - Manage the Brand team as it is this team that is at the core of driving consumer demand for our titles. Ultimately the Brand team acts as the “Air Traffic controller” for the company’s title’s publishing plans. This includes ensuring strong strategic and executional plans at a Marketing level and visibility of all activities across marketing, commerce, PR, web/online, and community. The Brand team is charged with driving consumer insights and market intelligence into the product development process and ensuring we build games our consumers will want to play and pay for. Most importantly the Brand team is also directly responsible for ensuring strong consumer demand for NCW’s titles and also leads – working with other stakeholders - and is responsible for the marketing functions for the title, including consumer research, creative briefs for demand generation, media planning and buying, customer acquisition and retention, and related activities. Additionally, the GBD acts as the overall orchestrator of the publishing process for a title, aligning sales, PR and other disciplines towards the strategic and financial goals for the title.
15% - Work with Studio and development teams to ensure our titles will ultimately achieve success this to be achieved via consumer research, solid reporting activity, the building and maintaining of very strong relationships with the development leads and the execution of market leading, innovative, product marketing plans
15% - Work with internal stakeholders across Publishing to develop innovative and industry leading plans that will drive strong demand for the companies products from pre-order, release and post release phases. Directly own the creative, media budget, media planning and other activity integral to any titles success
10% - Work with external partners including agencies, distribution, affiliates, SCEE, Microsoft, etc, etc
15% - Other

Position Qualifications/Skills/Talents/Experience required:
Worked within Marketing teams previously holding a senior role in Brand/Marketing in general
Managed Marketing budgets in the tens of millions
Ideally worked on a market leading Online title ideally MMOG/MTX in focus or a game with a strong ‘online/service’ component
Launched a brand that became mass market
Experience with Online entertainment
Worked with a strong Publishing team
Worked, built relationships with and driven strong communication with senior management and Executives
Built and managed a strong team
European experience
Experience working with N.A or other head office
Strong communicator
Can build and maintain strong external relationships
Strong in Excel and PowerPoint
Analytical and Logical
Worked in gaming or entertainment
Foreign language ideal (German/Korean/French)
Innovative and Creative
Strong desire to be #1 and a ‘self starter’
Plays games particularly online and mobile ‘connected’ experiences
