The Senior Director, UX Design - Communications role is responsible for fully supporting the Chief UX Designer / Vice President (Chief Designer) in strategic, quarterly, interdepartmental, organizational, and external outreach. The communications role is focused on maintaining and refining the VP’s overall vision and roadmap narratives. The narratives are used to drive design deliverables, coordinate launch time messaging with the marketing teams, and manage executive decision points pertinent to the UX Design team.
The communications role is also responsible for drafting presentations for the Chief Designer to deliver to executive teams, internal cross-functional departments, media and analysts, and internal stakeholders such as PR, corporate communications, and marketing. This includes concept presentations, operational budget reviews, quarterly business reviews, launch presentations, CEO keynote presentations, and other presentations as needed.
This position will facilitate ongoing relationships with senior-level executives specifically by keeping track of critical path deliverables with other departments. The communications role will also help the Chief Designer institute new processes for UX/development, UX/marketing, and UX/PR. In particular, this includes managing public relations support of UX vision and goals, for example market research, market validation, vision statements, use cases, user scenarios, positioning, and messaging.
The Senior Director will fully support the Chief Designer to drive development of the overall design strategy while leveraging expertise in distinctive and innovative UX trends in order to create a world-class User Experience for Huawei mobile devices.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions
• Work alongside Chief Designer to define the vision for the Huawei Consumer Business Group.
• Lead executive production of any presentation material or similar for both the Chief Designer as well as other stakeholders of the Huawei executive team.
• Define priorities, roadmaps, budgets, and project schedules to ensure focused design initiatives and on-time deliverables.
• Facilitate strategic planning of design initiatives and help evangelize the integration of key design principles across product lifecycles.
• Consult with stakeholders to help formulate guiding design principles, foster creativity, and refine overall design process.
• Anticipate and resolve operational challenges through proactive communication, methodical planning, and problem solving.
• Champion the importance of user-centered design and best principles and practices as critical to overall organizational goals.
• Provide operational oversight of design team and mentor design leads and individual designers while working collaboratively to achieve execution of design objectives.

• Experience with narrative roadmaps, messaging, launch processes, change management, and crisis management from a communications perspective.
• Experience in strategic planning of long-term device UX design and benchmark-level design planning.
• Ability to develop, lead, and cultivate high performing teams and cross-functional collaboration.
• Strengths in working collaboratively across multiple organizational levels.
• Expertise in user-centered design principles and collaborating with global design teams: knowledge of industrial UX development, color use, international design styles, and UX design theory and principles for mobile devices and the IoT.
• Extensive network of professional contacts within the design industry.
• Availability for extensive international travel and to work within different time-zones
Preferred
• 10+ years of experience in supporting key executives including design, marketing, and communications.
• 10+ years experience in communications change management and instituting new design processes with cross-functional teams.
