Director Technical Continuous Improvement Applied Materials Santa Clara

Job Description:
Provides leadership and direction through managers. Is accountable for the performance and results of a region or related job families. Executes segment/functional business plans and contributes to the development of segment/functional strategy. Decisions are guided by segment/functional strategy and priorities. Directs and controls the activities of a broad functional area.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Change agent responsible to drive Applied Materials Continuous Improvement transformation in Engineering, Service and/or Product Development, through the application of the continuous improvement principles, method and tools


Provides expertise and mentoring to Stakeholders and project teams in order to apply the right set of tools, DMAIC or DFSS, to the right problem statement in the Engineering, Service and/or Product Development Organizations
Responsible for integration of DFSS/NPI principles into existing Service/Product/Process Development Processes
Partners with the business stakeholders, at all levels in the organization, in order to identify the high-impact improvement opportunities and their business champions
Conducts baseline assessments of identified opportunities to select improvement projects through the application of an in-depth knowledge of customer needs and business goals
Leads multi-disciplined teams in the process of addressing quality issues and in the execution of the systemic improvement projects in a timely manner
Ensures the delivery of optimized sustainable processes and measurable Improvements results through the usage of the appropriate tools
Follows a systematic method for applying data in decision-making and pursues the elimination of non-value-added work and the variation embedded in the business processes
Provides expertise on the different process improvement methodologies, toolsets and on managing the change
Demonstrates the ability to facilitate meetings, to get stakeholder alignment and to clearly communicate standards and expectations
Leads by example, models the desired values, behaviors and work practices for co-workers
Develops the continuous improvement maturity of the Quality and Product organizations by consistently and relentlessly reinforcing the continuous improvement principles

Qualifications/Requirements:

Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Industrial, or Equivalent Discipline).
Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt (MBB) Certification required from recognized Organization (Certification Body or Company)
Proven deployment experience, 5 plus years of experience working as Lean Six Sigma MBB within the Engineering, Service and/or Product Development departments
Particular experience and proven successes of DFSS /NPI principles application within an Engineering, Service and/or Product Development environment
Strong facilitation skills and the ability to build positive working relationships within a variety of organizational departments
Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and oral
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Change Management / Change Acceleration Process experience is a must
Proven Experience in delivering Green Belt training and mentoring Black/Green Belts through projects
Proven Experience in delivering DFSS training
Facilitating work groups and teaching Lean and Six Sigma tools & techniques
