Director Sales Communication ESPN New York City

Job Description:
The Director of Sales Communication will lead the creation and development of ESPN’s Customer Marketing and Sales’ Brand Positioning used by the sales teams, clients, internally and in the marketplace. This includes guiding the strategic development and creation of high quality multimedia, media-specific, sport, product and other story arcs (regardless of medium). These arcs represent our position in the marketplace and are designed to persuade and sell. Position also includes leading key industry initiatives such as ESPN’s annual Upfront Event and trade communications. Also included is leading the creation and management of ESPN Deportes’ sales communications. You should be able to lead, present ideas and work with people effectively. Ideal candidate would have a strong digital background as well.

Responsibilities
Be a lead on all aspects of the development and execution of ESPN’s annual Upfront Event in May
Direct the development and creation of a wide range of digital communications/projects (working with appropriate digital sales/marketing/research team members
Lead development and creation of ESPN Deportes materials
Manage sport-specific communications, from a multimedia perspective, for designated sports (e.g., MLB, NFL, CBB, etc.) working with Sport Directors
Manage key corporate communication such trade events, campaigns, and related communications such as our annual Planning Guide
Oversee Sr Manager responsible for our print, digital and multimedia arcs and be able to provide strategic direction, guidance and growth opportunities
Interact regularly other Sales, Marketing and Research counterparts and external vendors to create materials
Storytelling: Be a champion for the creation and development of compelling, highly visual and strategic “stories that sell”. Someone who looks to the value of the “big selling proposition” first instead of simply turning to PowerPoint to create sales documents.

Basic Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years professional experience in related fields (multimedia, digital and print marketing and advertising)
Strategic and creative thinker with a pro-active approach to accessing needs and planning ahead
Strong organizational and managerial skills and desire to build relationships and encourage teamwork
Strong communication skills for frequent presentation of work
Mastery of PowerPoint, Excel, Word and knowledge of graphics programs helpful but not mandatory
