Director Aviation Corporate Services Monsanto St. Louis

Job Description:
We currently have an opening for our Director of Global Aviation. This position is located in St. Louis, MO at our Aviation Facility at the Spirit of St. Louis Airport. Monsanto’s Global Aviation Operation is an accomplished team that originated in 1946. Since that time we have been developing a team of aviation and project-based professionals ensuring the highest standards of safety and customer service to our Executive Team, Customers, and Stakeholders. Monsanto Global Aviation Operations is ISBAO, Stage III certified.

Major Responsibilities
Serves as a member of the MCS Leadership Team
Sets the strategic direction for the Global Aviation’s team and MCS organization
Provides leadership for aviation flight operations and maintenance


Manages people leaders with emphasis on development and succession planning for the MCS organization
Develops and implements Monsanto Global Aviation’s strategic short and long-range plans, including company and departmental objectives and implementation of those plans aligned with company’s business strategy operations, working closely with key stakeholders
Interacts with stakeholders, key Monsanto leaders and members of the Monsanto Executive Team to influence business decisions
Ensures safe, efficient, and professional operations of Monsanto’s Global Aviation resources.
Leads and develops a team of Monsanto’s Aviation professionals and is responsible for all aircraft operations including: flight activity, maintenance, and scheduling
Maintains knowledge of industry scales appropriate for the company operations and advises executive leadership accordingly. Serves as Monsanto’s principal authority on aircraft capabilities and costs; as well as developments in aviation technology and operations for cost-effective solutions and operations
People development is a key component of the Director of Global Aviation responsibilities which includes all Aviation Professionals focusing on a: customer –focused, technology-adept, compliant, and safe operating environment both in the air and on the ground
Maintains a comprehensive training program for all team members to ensure compliance with regulations and to maintain a high level of proficiency
Prepares and administers Monsanto Global Aviation’s annual operating budget, capital budget purchasing, and operational expenses
Establishes operating policies to comply with FAA, ISBAO, and other regulations and is responsible for the Safety Management System (SMS)
Responsible for the aviation facilities including OSHA and EPA compliance
Approves all charter operators for transporting Monsanto employees or materials, globally
Maintains security procedures for aviation facilities and sensitive information; as well as for company aircraft while away from company’s facilities
Develops, executes, and manages contracts for major aircraft maintenance, equipment upgrades, and ongoing services such as training
Represents the company in aviation matters through participation in corporate aviation associations, FAA, state or municipal aviation entities, airport management, contract agencies, and community organizations

Qualifications And Requirements
Bachelor’s degree; BSBA or BS in Aviation Management is preferred
Excellent business management skills coupled with 10 years of aviation experience and direct leadership experience is required
This position requires proven ability to effectively lead highly skilled aviation professionals while successfully communicating with Monsanto’s executives and fully integrating aviation operations into Monsanto’s business practices. Must have the ability to explain costs to non-aviation leadership to understand the department’s purpose and impact on the operations
Must have People Leadership experience with a focus on development of individuals that are relationship and results-driven
Must have operations, administrative, and compliance experience
Strong ability to build strong relationships and networks internally and externally to the organization
Must have the ability to utilize networks and relationships to influence others
High level of customer focus
Ability to set strategic vision, direction and have initiative and foresight
Must possess the following skills: organization, effectiveness, and flexibility
Gulfstream flight experience preferred
The ideal candidate would possess an FAA Airline Transport Pilot Multi-engine Land license with the following minimum flight experiences*
3000 hours total time
2000 hours Pilot In Command
1000 hours Multi-engine
500 PIC in turbojet or turboprop
First Class FAA Medical
