AIG has an opportunity for a Senior Director, Science Business Partner to join the Science organization, working with the CEO of the Americas region and his team. Position Summary:
The Senior Director, Science Business Partner will play an integral role in the strategy and development of the Americas region. They will provide guidance to business partners within the region, both in the United States and in AIG's international markets. They will lead projects within the team, driving from idea to delivery with a multi-skilled talented group from the Americas science team and beyond

Organization Structure and Interface:
This position will report to the Vice President/ Senior Science Business Partner for the Americas. The role will also interface directly with the most senior leaders of the Americas region, and AIG's Distribution function.

Performance Objectives:
* Delivering Science projects (e.g. constructing predictive models, new visualisation techniques, applying external research to change practices)
* Manage projects (several at once) through-cycle, including scoping, resourcing, budgeting etc through to impact
* Champion adoption and realization of Science projects at all levels of the organization
* Work with senior regional stakeholders throughout projects. Develop counseling relationships beyond immediate Science scope with regional leaders
* Lead project teams made up of individuals from within Science team, elsewhere in AIG, and potentially external resources (consultants, etc.)
* Determine frameworks for addressing business problems, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to solve
* Lead and review statistical / data / financial analyses. Assure high quality of all Science output

Create a trusted advisor relationship with regional leaders
* Become a counselor / trusted advisor to the senior Americas team
* Create an extensive network of advisory relationships with regional leaders both in Head Office and the field
* Establish relationships beyond the region to increase effectiveness and understanding

Lead a Science project team
* Responsible for the professional development of individuals in team
* Identify (with broader Science team) business problems and opportunities to which the Science team could contribute; take ownership and drive through project cycle

Develop AIG P&C's data-driven decision making capabilities
* Stay abreast of relevant developments in the industry or relevant academic disciplines, and consider potential relevant opportunities for AIG P&C
* Explicitly target the upgrading of analytical capabilities, and the adoption of a science-driven approach, throughout AIG P&C
* Seek opportunities to cooperate with third parties to upgrade AIG P&C's own capabilities or access new distinctive data sources

What you bring to the table:
* A minimum of 5 years in senior insurance operational roles or management consulting experience. The ideal candidate would have a combination of strategic planning/ management consulting and deep operational experience.
* Strong capability to lead teams, and problem solving within those teams and more widely, towards practical business impact
* Ability to influence multiple high level stakeholders across several functions
* Ability to drive projects to full implementation, in areas of the business outside formal line of control, using influencing and other soft leadership approaches
* Demonstrated ability to supervise complex substantive analysis, including statistical models on large data sets
* Strong critical thinker with experience in hypothesis-driven problem analysis and pyramid style communication
* Outstanding presentation skills, including presenting technical concepts to non-technical audiences
* Familiarity with complex business-to-business distribution strategies and sophisticated go-to-market strategies
* Significant experience in consumer financial arena; general insurance expertise is an advantage but not critical
* Demonstrated ability to drive change through collaboration
* Drive to push teams to achieve superior performance while creating a supportive developmental environment
* M.B.A. or Masters in a quantitative discipline
