Job Description
Onyx Pharmaceuticals is looking for a Sr. Medical Director, Oncology to play a hands-on role in the medical introduction and development of Kyprolis and Blinatumomab. The candidate will become a member of the Onyx Medical Affairs team. As such, this person will be the face to medical/scientific key opinion leaders. They are also expected to have a significant influence on the day-to-day activities within the Medical Affairs department and contribute toward the overall success of the Company.
Job Responsibilities
Develop the strategic and operational plans for activities within Medical Affairs
Review all educational and research grants for their scientific merit and consistency with brand marketing strategy
Review all advertising/promotional materials and provide medical/scientific input and support for Marketing and LMR
Provide medical review for medical information associated with CME events, new data, educational slides and letters for health care professionals to ensure medical accuracy
In partnership with the Director of Medical Communication, review all medical publications that are distributed
Act as a liaison to thought leaders, and develops excellent rapport with experts in therapeutic areas
Lead medical discussions at regional and national advisory board meetings as assigned
Assist in the review of Investigator-initiated trials
Assist in educating and training regional medical liaisons on the product and related therapeutic area in all aspects
Contribute to the development of Kyprolis and Blinatumomab through participation in a collaborative and cross-functional team environment
Provide assistance to the Medical Director, Clinical Development Basic Qualifications* M.D. degree, board eligible/certified
5 or more years Medical Affairs experience within the biotech/pharmaceutical industry
Extensive travel domestically and globallyPreferred Qualifications* Hemoncology or Oncology training
Managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
Professional knowledge and skills working with oncology/hemoncology patients and physicians
Working knowledge of FDA regulations
Graduate training in business, health policy or applied research
Ability to understand, interpret and explain scientific research and literature
Exceptional written and verbal communication Well spoken, confident, enthusiastic and charismatic
Ability to build working relations throughout the organization and with business partners to achieve business goals
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast paced environment
Excellent communicator, skilled at diplomacy and capable of effectively combining science and relationship building
Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with thought leaders and to establish trust through the consistent demonstration of scientific expertise and satisfactory follow-through to requests from thought-leaders
