Director R&D Citrus Science and Technology Coca-Cola Company Orlando

Job description
This Director of global juice science and technology will lead citrus and juice technology development at The Coca-Cola Company (TCCC). This associate will work closely with the North America business unit on citrus blend strategies as well as provide leadership to the global juice technical community on blend management. This role will also lead a team of 7 product developers and chemists to develop differentiated technologies for juice products.

Proven leadership in driving technical strategy and gaining support from enterprise
Strong scientific and technical fundamentals to drive innovation and technical programs
Ability to work in a fast paced environment bringing team along
Cross functional leadership and project management skills
Experience with agricultural products or juice technology
Exposure to working in multicultural environments preferred.

Scale & Scope

Lead and influence company strategies for growth in the citrus beverage category and drive juice technology development.
Effectively communicate citrus R&D science and technology programs to senior business leadership to gain support on strategy.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to enhance the quality of TCCC global orange and citrus beverages, leveraging growers, processors, suppliers, and finished beverage producers.
Direct innovation and science programs on strategic citrus and juice ingredients important to the company business, such as juice solids, flavors, by-products and juice beverage ingredients.
Utilize technical expertise in citrus and juice chemistry to gain competitive advantage in the marketplace through knowledge of citrus components, cost structure, processing steps, quality procedures, and Route to Market quality control.
Maintain and provide juice Technical Stewardship for citrus and other juice ingredients through the Global Juice Center and Master Blender Network.
Lead the orange juice Blend Management program for the North America division to maintain a consistent supply and quality of the key juice brands of TCCC, Minute Maid and Simply.
Develop and leverage relationships with industry and academic associations/agencies to gain access to new technology and to influence their research programs to provide a competitive advantage.

-12 years citrus industry and/or academic experience with a MS or PhD (preferred) in Food Science, Flavor Chemistry or related science.
The ideal candidate needs to have completed an advanced Food Science or Flavor Chemistry curriculum and understand and apply effective skills in research project management, food chemistry, flavor chemistry and food process technology.
In addition to strong scientific skills, the ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to effectively interact with cross-functional teams, build and develop relationships with other global business units.
