Job Description
The Director of Manufacturing Technology designs and manages the implementation of appropriate manufacturing technologies required to effectively build complex new product designs. Also works to continuously improve existing manufacturing operations and technologies to reduce cost and increase quality.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews for new products
Work with mechanical design engineers to design fixtures and key manufacturing processes early in the design phase
Develop prototype fixtures and assembly aids to be used during early prototype builds
Work with mechanical design engineers to assemble and test prototypes using those fixtures and assembly aids
Search for new manufacturing technologies to support products that are on the technology roadmap but not yet in design or production
Manage the assembly line design and implementation for EVT and DVT builds in the factory
Design and implement systems for part and fixture revision control, GRR, PPAP, line qualification, and other NPI processes
Optimize the supply chain for mechanical parts, assist in selecting and qualifying manufacturing partners
Qualifications
Ideal candidate must have 10-15 years of senior level experience designing and building complex mechanical assemblies and at minimum 5-10 years of hands-on experience managing projects and programs at large and small contract manufacturing factories in Asia, Europe, Mexico, and the USA
Bachelors degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or Operations Management is a must.
