Director Firmware Development Semiconductor Samsung Electronics San Jose

Job Description
The ideal Firmware Development Director will need the following:

The ability to manage and grow a team of firmware developers working on SAS based designs for the enterprise and server market space. To be responsible for recruitment, retention, project management and delivery through to customers

The ability to communicate and negotiate with internal and external customers, FAE, and KHQ on required features and development schedule for these features.



The ability to work with and participate in conference calls with counterparts in Korea and in India.
Responsibilities:

Personnel recruiting and management
Project management of firmware development.
Support for customer qualification, customer and FAE interface
Monitor and enhancement of development process
Ensure high level of customer satisfaction by completing customer feature requests on time, delivering promptly issue resolution and FA analysis
Work directly with KHQ and share development plans, reports and provide visibility on the work at hand. Concurrently obtain roadmaps, project schedules and project information
Ensure quick customer qualification by delivering high quality firmware with a high degree of testing for high level confidence.

Skill & Abilities:

Customer focused and works to maintain strong customer relationships
Experience in enterprise market and how to deal with enterprise customers
Must have proven track record of developing and successfully delivering firmware for storage products on time
Ability to work as a team player or work collaboratively with others (e.g. team members, other departments)
Experience in timely firmware customization to satisfy customer requests
Strong planning, organizing, prioritizing and time management skills
Be able to clearly communicate complex firmware designs and solutions in clear, concise and easily readable format by both technical and non-technical personnel.
Agile development experience and application is a plus
Storage protocol knowledge is preferred, SAS, SATA, NVMe, PCIe, SCSI, FC-AL.
Accurately determine, assign, track and manage project tasks, activity, documentation, and time information.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment and adapt to change and/or be flexible as business situation arise
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Comfortable in preparing presentation and speaking in public
Strong leadership capabilities, including empowering others, managing performance and creating a motivating environment


Background /Experience:

10 years in firmware development teams
5 years in leadership role within firmware development
3 years in personnel management experience
BS required, MS in EE, CE, CS, or related fields preferred
