Job Description
AECOM is seeking a visionary and dynamic leader for our NYC Metro Buildings + Places Business Unit with the primary responsibility to grow the NYC Metro Architecture practice. This role includes a focus on developing new business relationships and opportunities with public and private sector owners, organizations and institutions in the local and regional marketplace. The position requires an ability to get work and oversee that work as project principal while working with a talented team of professionals in the Architecture, Building Engineering, and Planning Teams, and with other Business lines within AECOM such as AECOM Capital and AECOM Construction Services.
The successful candidate should be an industry-recognized leader in the NYC Metro area with strong public and private sector client relationships, connections and an established client network.
The successful candidate will also work closely with the Operations Principal, Technical Principal and Design Principal to push forward a progressive agenda both in Progressive Design and Project Delivery.
Primary responsibilities for this position:
Lead the NYC Metro Architecture Practice with staff located in NYC and Clifton NJ. This position will be based at the AECOM office located at 125 Broad Street, New York, NY but will require travel between offices
Work with national architecture leaders to implement key initiatives, investments and strategies for growth and practice-development; obtain new project work; lead thought leadership; and, create profitability
Responsible for leading and growing a best in class integrated practice that delivers high quality, creative solutions for new and existing public sector and private sector clients
Build Client Relationships. Develop strong client relationships and serve as a key client relationship manager
Attract, develop and retain industry leaders and prominent technical specialists to strengthen the AECOM brand and performance
Act as an Ambassador of AECOM Brand in the NY Metro
Preferred Qualifications
Established relationships with commercial real estate sector client and related industry communities in the NY Metro area
Minimum Requirements
Must be a Registered Architect
Minimum of 15 years’ experience with a proven track record in winning and delivering major projects in NYC Metro area
Accountability for the teams responsible for the development, coordination, and execution of the concept, planning design and/or construction administration activities and personnel under his/her direction
The ability to support and lead business development activities through early client interaction, “scope of work” development, interviews, and on-going client maintenance interface
Acted as principal-in-charge of a large/multi-disciplined project /consultant team
Successfully deliver projects within the clients’ budget / schedule requirements
An ability to travel and/or work remotely with teams
Demonstrated track record delivering successful, innovative design and planning solutions, with proven success in implementing projects from vision through adoption and/or construction
Demonstrable team building and influencing skills; unquestioned integrity; and the experience, confidence, and stature to effectively address major client needs and challenges
Recruit and develop a team grounded in design and technical excellence
