Director - Subscription Marketing - Showtime - New York
Job description
The Director of Subscription Marketing leads the development and execution of customer acquisition and retention strategies for the SHOWTIME streaming service and other Digital Platforms (SHOWTIME ANYTIME) across paid, owned and earned media channels. The ideal candidate is a passionate and experienced marketing and media expert and has a strong background in digital and paid media, excels at marketing analytics and has a proven record of managing efficient and effective marketing and advertising campaigns that drives revenue and delivers value for media companies.
The Director will provide marketing solutions to effectively acquire, activate and retain SHOWTIME subscribers through direct to consumer and collaborative campaigns. The candidate will work closely with various internal departments including Consumer Marketing, Distributor Marketing, Media, Sales, Digital Services, Creative Services, Research and Product Management teams and be a primary contact for external media and creative agencies. This position reports to the Vice President of the group and will manage 3 direct reports.
Specific responsibilities include:
1. Customer Acquisition and Retention
* Oversee the direction and development of the consumer marketing strategy and creative for the SHOWTIME streaming service to successfully grow awareness, consideration, trial and conversion of new subscribers across traditional and digital channels.
* Partner with internal and external teams to establish standardized and optimized processes for customer relationship management (CRM) program, manage marketing automation strategy for retention, renewal and win-back tactics including email marketing, mobile push and in-app messaging.
* Develop, measure and optimize customer lifecycle KPI’s and identify target audience segments, key product benefits and effective marketing communications to develop customer-focused marketing strategies for all stages of the purchase funnel.
* A/B test and optimize campaigns and strategy based on data-driven insights to deliver maximum ROI. Play a lead role in designing data reports that track key business metrics from multiple data sources and across all digital platforms.
* Analyze marketing trends and patterns to strategically assess acquisition opportunities and current customer impact. Work as part of a cross-departmental team to develop subscription models and long-term growth strategies.
* Manage relationships with multiple agencies. Write marketing/creative briefs to establish strategic direction for subscriber acquisition campaigns.
* Manage a multi-million dollar annual marketing budget, ensuring marketing investments can be effectively tracked and measured from initial engagement through conversion.
* Socialize product positioning and subscription marketing strategy and best practices across all marketing teams to align strategies and coordinate integrated campaigns.
2. Distributor Support
* Work closely with Showtime Key Account Marketing and Sales teams to exceed subscriber and revenue goals through innovative marketing campaigns.
* Support strategic partnerships with app store and consumer electronics companies (Apple, Google, Amazon, Roku, Microsoft, Samsung, etc.) to promote the Showtime brand, products and programming.
* Serve as a client-facing partner to distributor contacts and external vendors to sell-in, concept and execute digital projects.
* Support ideation and brainstorming to produce actionable campaigns that promote Showtime products.
3. Additional Marketing Support
* Establish technical requirements for digital campaigns and oversee implementation as needed.
* Collaborate with Business Development/Product Management teams to implement marketing features that continually improve product experiences, keep subscribers engaged and prolong the average lifetime value of a Showtime subscriber.
* Be a thought leader and digital expert for Marketing department, helping to shape and form big ideas that meet digital best practices and deliver marketing campaigns that help achieve business goals.
* Identify key industry trends, perform competitive analysis and evaluate impact for Showtime.
