Director - Product Development - Oracle - Redwood Shores

Job description
As a Director in the product development division, you will lead a team that defines product specifications and or strategy. Gather and analyze information to define product specifications and review design specifications. Envision and communicate product strategy and functionality. Initiate and foster relationships with other groups. Review product documentation and collateral. Ensure successful product releases based on corporate priorities.


Assists in the development of short, medium, and long term plans to achieve strategic objectives. Regularly interacts across functional areas with senior management or executives to ensure unit objectives are met. The ability to influence thinking or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations is important. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development and product management. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 of software engineering or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities



· Own product definition, from vision and roadmap to detailed product requirements for a set of cloud services

· Drive product strategy and direction that aligns with customer expectations and creatively leverages engineering resources

· Work closely with Engineering and Operations to continuously deliver high quality features at a fast pace

· Collaborate intensively with other Oracle product teams and/or partners to deliver cohesive products and services

· Drive production adoption and usage

· Be “the customer advocate” inside the company

· Run effective beta programs and collect continuous customer feedback

· Partner with sales and marketing to deliver high quality product collateral, and influence pricing, packaging and positioning

· Understand and monitor the evolving infrastructure cloud market trends and competition

· Produce product tutorials and whitepapers that highlight the customer value of new features

Skills



· Can succinctly articulate compelling vision for infrastructure cloud in the enterprise market

· Has a strong understanding of the infrastructure cloud technologies, and enterprise customer needs

· Has enough technical knowledge of distributed systems and cloud infrastructure services to effectively engage with engineering teams

· Has an entrepreneurial drive to lead a highly talented engineering team with clear and compelling communication, and can prioritize requirements well.

· Has a demonstrable ability to analyze and act against existing and rapidly changing markets

· Can advocate, articulate, and balance the needs of both technical and business stakeholders

· Posses strong business acumen in the context of Internet-based services

· Demonstrates strong writing skills. Demonstrated ability to explain technical material to both technical and business audiences. Experience writing tutorials, white papers, data sheets, and case studies.



Required Qualifications



· Previous experience (product management, development, operations) with large scale distributed systems, preferably cloud infrastructure services

· 5-10 years of experience in product management for enterprise infrastructure software, IaaS, PaaS and/or SaaS

· 5+ years of experience in the storage or virtualization market

· Previous experience with managing multiple projects at the same time

· Previously played an active role in a successful agile environment

· Bachelors Degree required. Masters or MBA preferred with a strong relevant experience in the field
