Director - Process & Performance - National Grid - Brooklyn
Job description
Accountable for the performance of an end-to-end process, ensuring that process excellence targets set in conjunction with the company objectives are achieved. Through collaboration across functions, drive process excellence and efficiency, identifying opportunities to improve operational, asset and customer service performance, enabling projects to be delivered safely, efficiently and within regulatory standards and compliance.
Lead the development of improved end to end processes, validating/testing and executing them when needed, managing and executing contingency plans, minimizing network disturbance and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Position Responsibilities (including But Not Limited To)
Identify process inefficiencies, opportunities and failures and work closely with the Process Excellence Center of Excellence (PEX CoE) in order to develop solutions to drive efficiencies and maximize value through projects, initiatives and ongoing change management.
Collaborate with the other process teams and the PEX CoE to implement and embed the National Grid Process Framework into the US business, and support the development of National Grid process methodology and tools.
Improve the financial and non-financial performance of end-to-end processes, including working with members of the US Executive Team and PEX CoE to set process ambition, objectives and KPIs.
Develop and foster a culture of innovation in the end to end process, challenging and advising the functions that support departments and the wider business to understand the impact of existing policies, processes and ways of working in order to drive greater innovation and value.
Support the development and design of the Management Information architecture needed to drive process improvement, working closely with other process and functional leads, supporting priority setting, performance management, and achievement of business and regulatory objectives.
Contribute to, develop and implement National Grid Strategy within the process by aligning and prioritising processes and resources in order to drive performance and value creation through innovative, efficient, customer focused and joined up working.
Lead, own and champion change across the business and within the process, managing operational and organizational change for business excellence and growth, as well as inspiring and engaging others in new ways of matrix working, innovation and performance to enhance value and commitment.
Lead the development of process policies, including:
Testing and challenging existing policies, ensuring they are optimized across the end to end process. Identify shortfalls and,working with the responsible functions, put in place action plans to remedy these, in order to ensure, network disturbances are minimized and compliance with regulations.
Managing communication with stakeholders directly and indirectly impacted by the process plans and procedures.
Knowledge & Experience Required
A Bachelor’s degree preferably in an engineering/analytical business discipline with a considerable breadth and depth of proven experience across maintenance, asset management and emergency response / resolution, ideally within the utility sector.
5+ year’s management experience at the director level or equivalent.
Influential, energetic and enthusiastic business leader, with the drive, ambition and resilience to make things happen and deliver outstanding performance.
A strong, successful record in providing strategic leadership, implementing significant change and delivering against key business objectives.
Significant experience managing resources and activities focused on delivering superior operational performance and continuous improvement.
Proven experience at influencing senior executives of the organization.
Ability to successful bring together and drive cooperation across diverse teams with potentially conflicting goals and objectives.
Experience in leading and developing a broad team comprised of diverse expertise and skills.
Significant experience with Lean, Six Sigma or other process managment systems implementation desired
