Director - Network Supply - Diageo - Plainfield
Job description
This role manages a team which must have intimate knowledge of products, plant capabilities and supplier; 25 brand / class combinations and 500+ Sku’s. Master supply plans are developed for the production of domestic and foreign products Leads Diageo Plainfield’s Operations in developing, implementing, and managing supply planning processes, warehousing and materials, including Service / Inventory Optimization technology.
Decision Making
Oversee overall supply chain for over 30M case of annual volume produced in. Role makes key decisions providing sourcing recommendations for both short and long term supply needs outlook. Role works closely with Central Planning team to Identify and drive resolution to Capacity Constraints to meet Sales, as well as implementation plans for new innovation products.
Financial Responsibility
Total inventory responsibility of approximately $100m. Planning and overall supply and distribution responsibility for 30+ M cases per year supplied from domestic and import production facilities. Manage an overall $3M operational budget.
Management Responsibility
Reports to the VP of Operations and manages up to 4 (L5) leaders across Supply Chain and SAP support plus 5 supporting staff (L6). Functional responsibility includes managing daily, weekly, monthly and annual planning processes from which case volume projections are developed that drive both operational and financial management decisions. As owner of the supply planning processes, play leading and active roles in most major supply chain initiatives. Overall responsibility for ensuring product availability for all fiscal year-end sales volume targets. This role is also responsible for the Materials warehouse operations at the Plainfield facility made up of 4 warehouse team leads and 50+ hourly associates responsible for receiving and shipping materials and finished cased goods. This role also has the responsibility to incorporate Safety, Quality and Food Safety throughout the department.
Purpose Of Role
To develop and lead a Supply Planning organization that provides sourcing, production, and inventory management direction to Diageo Plainfield. To lead Supply in implementing planning processes and systems that support the Plainfield Service, Inventory and Cost performance targets.
Key Outputs
Design and implement the supply plans to support Service, Inventory and Cost targets.
Lead Supply in developing inventory management and supply planning capabilities that will enable the organization to achieve supply chain excellence and CPG best practices
Develop, retain, and lead the team of Supply and Demand Planning to facilitate a continuous replenishment of finished product for the customer order fulfilment process.
Develop and/or strengthen and facilitate continuous communication between the Supply Planning team and other key stakeholders across Diageo North America.
Ensure communication to appropriate stakeholders occurs regarding any/all risks to ongoing supply of finished product.
Eliminate waste by driving the Slow Moving and Obsolete materials / ingredients process with Central finance
Qualifications And Experience Required
Bachelor’s Degree in Operations / Supply Chain Management, or related business discipline, MBA preferred
8-10 year’s experience in operations and/or supply chain management,
Demonstrated knowledge and application of production and inventory planning processes
Knowledge of MPS and DRP methodology a must, APICS affiliation preferred
Manufacturing and distribution / warehousing experience a plus
Planning system and ERP knowledge a plus (e.g. APO and SAP)
Ability to work an idea from conception stages through implementation
Excellent project management skills, proven influencing and leadership skills, excellent communication with all levels of management
Strong analytical skills and Financial acumen
