Director - Content Strategy - Expedia, Inc. - Bellevue

Job description
We are looking for a Director of Content Strategy to join our User Experience Design team within Expedia's Global Product Organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
As the Director of Content Strategy within the Global UX Design team, you will be a member of the User Experience leadership team and report to the VP of Global User Experience and Design.
You will be leading our content design initiatives and managing the content strategy team that helps create smart, relevant and connected travel products that artfully unify customer needs with business goals. You will:
Own the strategies, frameworks, standards, and processes for creating, curating, publishing and maintaining original, licensed, and user-generated content and data across multiple customer touch points
Guide UX product design efforts focused on integrating original and user-generated content and data to create self-improving and increasingly more relevant and personal customer experiences and systems
Hire, develop, and inspire members of our high-performing and talented content team, assuring solid understanding and perspective on how content efforts relate to customer delight and business goals
Assure content solutions across the Global Product organization meet our standards of quality, measured in terms of usability, intuitiveness, persuasion, consistency, delightfulness, business metrics, and time to market
Work collaboratively with product teams, engineers and UX to identify opportunities for innovation, growth and efficiency
Partner with other UX leadership to foster a culture of user-centered thinking; be a vocal evangelist for the importance and value of effective content and user story design within the overall product experience
Keep the Global User Experience Design team informed of industry trends, best practices, comparative & competitive reviews and evolving technologies and methodologies

Requirements:
To be successful in this role, it is a given that you are good with words. Of course, you can write, edit, and structure stories and information with the best of them. But your real passion is creating product experiences that communicate to our customers personally at a global scale. You are a process-oriented systems thinker with a solid grounding in the science of content organization as well as the art of good storytelling, persuasion, psychology and marketing. You know how to lean on best practices and standards, but must have a love for experimentation and a passion for trying new things and constantly learning. You must have:
Expert knowledge in creating and curating both structured and unstructured content and experience with social, user-generated, and traditional publishing solutions
Expert experience in creating delightful and compelling content, sourcing and aggregating content, and negotiating partnerships and relationships with other content creators
Expert knowledge of content management processes and systems
Proven ability to meet both user needs and business goals through content
Demonstrated team facilitation and problem-solving skills
Advanced knowledge of Search Engine Marketing and Optimization strategies
Excellent relationship building and coordination skills
A professional and personal portfolio of useful and delightful content solutions in highly dynamic environments
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (but of course)

Experience:
While we recognize that there is not one path to becoming a great Content Strategist, we look for:
More than 7 year's professional experience with content strategy
Proven experience developing highly scalable, interactive content solutions; consumer-facing and task-driven experiences, a plus
Degree in a relevant field (Communications, Journalism, Computer Science, HCI)

And although not required, it is an advantage if you can demonstrate:
Experience working within agile design and development teams
Experience working with responsive Web design solutions
