Director - Technical - Networking Standards and IP - Broadcom - San Jose
Job description
Leadership role in Ethernet technology related standards and associated consulting/coordinatoin with R&D groups in various lines of business in ING.
The Roles And Responsibilities Includes
One of the primary Broadcom delegate to IEEE 802.3 Ethernet Working Group and help to lead/contribute/influence/monitor broad Ethernet technologies that includes UTP PHY, High Speed Serdes (Short reach copper and backplane), Ethernet MAC and PCS, and supplimental precision time sync and packet preemption.
Align Ethernet standards technologies to various market requirements and assist various ING architecture and R&D groups product development efforts. Markets include data center, cloud services, automotive, industrial, service providers, and traditional IT.
Drive or help to drive key architecture direction, champion major changes and innovation, help to ensure proper implementation of standards in product, and consult on Ethernet technologies accross ING and within Broadcom.
Help to achieve new standards implimentation of one busines group to the rest and ensure consistent architecture across product lines and in Broaadcom.
Participate in all architecture coordination efforts and project team meetings.
A Candidate Should Have The Following Skills And Capabilites
Excellent communication and presentation skills, all facets -- content creation, report, technical paper, presentation, team communicaiton, arch documents.
Proven or demonstrated track record of taking on new technologies and mastering them in short order.
Expertise or intimate familiarity in Ethernet and IEEE 802.3 standards development
Technical proficiency in Transparent Bridging ("L2 Switching"), Routing, High Speed interfaces, including line coding, FEC, and UTP PHYs.
Assume responsibilities, be proactive, and often self-directed in addressing issues, set direction, communicate, and meet stated commitments
Willingness and able to travel inter-continental and global standards meeting venues, up to 2-3 times per quarter.
Recommended engineering experience: BSCS/EE degree and 18 years of experience, an MSCS/EE degree and 15 years of experience, or a PhD CS/EE and 12 years of experience, or strong and proven track records in lieu of the stated experience.
