Director - IS Research & Development - Boston Scientific - Arden Hills


Job description
Boston Scientific's (BSC) Information Systems is a key player in setting and executing the strategic direction for Boston Scientific. The IS Director provides leadership, vision and direction for information systems, and is seen as a critical business advisor by the businesses they support. Boston Scientific is currently seeking an IS Director to partner with our Global Research and Development (R&D) organization.


Key Responsibilities

Partner with R&D leadership to understand business opportunities, threats, needs and issues where the IS organization can make an impact and bring forward practical and innovative solutions.
Serve as a business advisor to the business and their primary liaison to Global IS services.
Bring global focus to problem solving and ensure our Global IS solutions, projects, resourcing and funding support the priorities of the business.
Mentor and develop the next generation of leadership and talent within Global IS. Create an empowered and inclusive organization that rewards risk taking, encourages innovation, and rewards based on contribution
Set IS Strategy to support the business needs of your primary customers and ensure the strategy leverages the Global IS architecture
Drive simplification and instill continuous improvement discipline within Global IS and in the business. Strive to identify opportunities to reduce the overall cost to serve and operate new solutions and helping the business find new ways to reduce their overall cost and improve efficiency.
Program Management for core new services being designed, constructed, and delivered within the Director's of responsibility
Oversee the health and technical longevity of existing applications owned by your pillar
Leverage / engage IS Leadership team to help you accomplish your mission or as a point of escalation where needed.
Re-enforce and reward focus on BSC Quality Vision, and ensure the IS solutions that support BSC's quality system within their teams are compliant.

Management Requirements

Lead a team of employees in the setting and achievement of organizational goals. Guide, coach, direct, and develop direct reports, and if applicable, drive those practices throughout their organizations.
Foster a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives.
Manage budget planning, forecasting and tracking
Monitor and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g. federal/country and regulatory requirements).

Quality System Requirements

In all actions, demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.

For Those Individuals That Supervise Others, The Following Statements Are Applicable

Assures that appropriate resources (personnel, tools, etc.) are maintained in order to assure Quality System compliance and adherence to the BSC Quality Policy.
Establishes and promotes a work environment that supports the Quality Policy and Quality System.

Qualifications

Experience collaborating with R&D leadership to implement technology solutions that enhance the consumer value associated with products and improve the efficiency of our product development processes.
10+ years of related professional experience in Information Systems leadership.
Bachelor's degree; Computer Science, Management Information Systems or Engineering required, MBA preferred.
Proven experience conceiving and delivering innovative solutions leveraging technology and information
Senior executive presence, comfortable presenting and collaborating with Senior Leaders as a Business Advisor
Experience working in a Global Organization supporting diverse businesses and geographies
Experience and a comprehensive knowledge of information systems, financials, contract management, and business processes.
Ability to successfully manage and execute multiple, large scale projects using established project management tools and processes.
Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability to condense data in order to synthesize crisp and easily understandable deliverables.
Demonstrated track record of building and maintaining highly collaborative, flexible, and productive cross-organization teams.
