Director - Strategic Alliances and Business Development - Lenovo - Raleigh


Job description
We are seeking a unique individual that is both a technologist and business leader to drive and develop our Strategic partner relationships, play a key role in our EBG business development and M&A activities and own and develop our technical direction in in the emerging Software defined and hyper converged space. This position is primarily focused on growth elements of our strategy and will also play a key role in partnering with Lenovo’s R&T organization, Corporate M&A organization and EBG/PCG’s Strategy organization.



The selected candidate will create deep partnership relationships with our external strategic alliance partners, work internally with cross function technologists, marketing, and sales teams to develop a highly effective transfer of partner relationship value to our product and offering teams. . He/She will be immersed in new disruptive technologies and products while playing a key role in the business development of new businesses and growth opportunities for EBG. He/She must have a strong leadership presence and have the ability to communicate with Sr. executives from external partners/companies as well as Sr. executives within Lenovo. He/she must also have a good grasp of technology and the directions in the market. The scope for this role will span varied emerging HW and software components, therefore it will require a comprehensive understanding of current and emerging solutions evolving in the industry. The selected candidate will leverage a deep technical competency, creativity, and a “drive for results” attitude to construct innovative value for our customers.

Responsibilities

• Own the EBG strategic alliance responsibility for SAP, Microsoft and VMWare - This is much more than a project management role. The responsibilities include setting the relationship/partner agenda is it relates to EBG, developing programs/relationships that can grow our EBG business and that of the partners in a material manner. Seek out and develop areas that we, together, can build on what we have but also create disruptive innovation to the norm in the market.
• Develop clear technical strategy and partner direction around 3 key industry directions of SDN, SDS and hyper-converged. Systems. Working closely with our technical and marketing SME’s and R&T.
• Lead and negotiate key Business development terms, in partner with corporate BD with partners and solution providers involved in SDX and Hyper converged
Play a key role in participating and perhaps leading the business side of EBG JV and M&A activities
• Evaluate new technology and/or solution opportunities with internal technologist and external companies.
• Work effectively with x-functional peers in Engineering, Architecture, Finance, Operations and Sales Geographies to effectively plan and transfer of new innovations into the mainstream business/development process. • At least 10 years of Strategic Business Development Experience in related industry.
• Undergraduate degree required, MBA preferred.
• Executive presence and command skills to interface with both internal and partner Executives
• Strong communication and presentation skills to convey and gain support for strategies and product proposals
• Technical acumen and strategic thinking including strong understanding of SW, Storage and networking technologies …
• Ability to deal effectively with ambiguity, organize and problem solve. Ability to orchestrate and drive complex strategy projects inside a major corporation.
• Strategic thinker with a keen ability to interpret market trends and identify product leadership opportunities.
• Ability to work effectively cross-culturally and across multiple time zones
Strong project management skills
• Expertise in MS PowerPoint and other MS Office applications
