Job Description

Summary of Position Responsibilities: Provides technical and personnel leadership for the development and maintenance of the tools, processes and procedures needed to achieve high quality computer automation services in a large enterprise environment.

Primary Responsibilities
Improve the overall productivity of the Operations organization and reduce outages through human error by automating operational workflows.
Establish a strategic, multi-year roadmap for automating repetitive workflows within IT Operations and collaborate with area managers and staff in replacing those processes with automated practices.

Provide technical leadership for the introduction of technological, procedural or application changes within the computing environment.
At the highest technical level, analyze complex systems, operational problems or malfunctions, take corrective action and/or coordinates corrective action with system engineering or vendors as appropriate.
Keep abreast of new hardware and software developments, evaluate alternative approaches and service requirements and recommend initiatives.

Required Experience:

5+ years of experience in the implementation and/or operation of at least one automation tool/suite such as BMC Atrium Orchestrator, BMC Server Automation/BladeLogic, or Puppet/Chef within a large organization.
5+ years of experience managing IT personnel, including full people management…
7+ years of experience supporting a large IT data center/enterprise environment, including support of multiple hardware and software platforms and operating systems.

Preferred Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technology field or equivalent work experience.
Ability to perform effectively in both independent and team settings, maintaining focus on multiple tasks and projects.
Excellent communication skills and ability to build effective partnerships with peer groups, vendors, etc.
ADP or equivalent certification preferred, or must be obtained within 6 months of employment. US citizenship is a requirement for certification.
