General Purpose

This director level attorney position will manage and assist in providing legal services relating to commercial law issues, including, advice and counsel, litigation, transactional and project work.

Essential Functions

• Provide day to day commercial law (e.g., intellectual property (IP); data privacy, etc.) advice and counseling
• Direct and supervise commercial litigation, including IP cases and class actions

• Direct and supervise outside commercial counsel, including discovery and case status and strategy
• Review and negotiate commercial contracts and agreements and handle contract disputes
• Develop and implement commercial law projects
• Prepare and present internal instruction materials and related training
• Other legal projects and initiatives
• Supervise trademark prosecution and protection efforts

Qualifications And Special Skills Preferred

• California JD with at least 5-7 years commercial law experience (e.g., IP, data privacy, etc.)
• In-house experience a plus
• Class action and multi-state experience
• Compliance audit experience a plus
• Proven track record of handling and managing commercial litigation
• Strong interpersonal and written skills
• Result-oriented communication and management skills
• Experience with retail industry beneficial but not required
