Job description
Title/Name this Position Reports to: Vice President, Customer Acquisition & Retention Marketing
Job Summary:
The Executive Director of Database Marketing has responsibility for four core areas within the Customer Acquisition & Retention team:
1) Creating an operational marketing database that supports campaign delivery and analytics.
2) Enriching the marketing database with 1st party and 3rd party data for the purposes of targeting, analytics, modeling and segmentation.
3) Developing an operational segmentation schema that supports targeting and campaign execution.
4) Developing campaign “plumbing” and automation to support regular campaign cadence in support of prospect marketing, lead generation and CRM activities.
The leader will be responsible for building out this newly created department, including strategy, people and process.
The leader will partner with internal marketing department partners, including prospect marketing, lead management, reporting and analysis and the CRM/ecommerce teams. She/He will also build strong working relationships with customer experience, technology, product, sales and finance in order to execute on immediate and long term customer and revenue goals. This leader will the primary liaison to the data sciences team and will be accountable for managing the process of predictive model delivery and continuous model improvement projects.
Job Details:
Create, maintain and enrich the operational marketing database that facilitate all prospect marketing and CRM programs for the company.
Develop a pragmatic operational segmentation to support prospecting, cross sell/up sell and retention marketing efforts.
Create campaign automation processes that facilitate campaign cadence and BAU lead generation programs.
Manage ad hoc list pulls to support direct marketing programs.
Lead all data enrichment projects that support modeling, customer insights and targeting.
Liaise with the data sciences team in support of marketing modeling projects.
Partner with the performance reporting team and support all campaign analytics and reporting requirements.
Desired Skills and Experience
Candidate Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
5+ years of hands on database marketing experience.
Advanced SQL skills.
Professional expertise in 3rd party data providers and data enrichment strategies and techniques.
Advance knowledge in creating operational segmentation and campaign cadence capabilities.
Intimate understanding of database technologies and database structures.
Understanding of ETL processes and the “pushing and pulling” of data across various environments
10+ years of direct marketing experience.
Well versed in multi-channel marketing strategies, including email, direct mail, telemarketing, web site and customer service channels.
5+ years of experience with marketing automation platforms.
Understanding of campaign delivery platforms.

Polymath skill set; easily able to toggle from left brain (analysis) to right brain (creativity) and pull both parts together.

Background Experiences
Bachelor’s degree required. MBA preferred.
3-5 years of experience leading complex projects and cross functional teams.
Mix of large enterprise experience along with digital or ecommerce.
Has built a team and capability from the ground up.
Successful track record delivering results in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders.
