AWS Support is seeking someone who can re:Invent traditional support leveraging SDE’s.
The individual will directly lead a large team of Product Managers and Software Development professionals toward attainment of software delivery and business (revenue, adoption) goals. This position will interact with all AWS services to ensure we build people services that support all AWS customers. You will be surrounded by people that are wickedly smart, passionate about cloud computing, and on a mission to be the World Class Standard for Customer Experience. Beyond the typical software development skillset required, we’re seeking someone that understands Big Data, Machine Learning and Mobile to deliver our required solutions.
This position will report to the VP of AWS Support organization. AWS Support is a one-on-one, fast-response support channel that is staffed 24x7x365 with experienced and technical support engineers. The service helps customers of all sizes and technical abilities to successfully utilize the products and features provided by Amazon Web Services. Customers include very large Enterprises (e.g. Dow Jones, NASDAQ, and Nokia); Public Sector companies (e.g. NASA JPL) as well as fast growing businesses and internet companies (e.g. Shazam). The AWS Support organization is global with team members in 20 locations around the world. The organization is a self-standing business with revenue and P&L responsibility. As a technical leader, you are a pragmatic visionary that can translate business needs into workable technology solutions that scale both technically and operationally. This individual will lead a team of software development professionals across Seattle and Cape Town who are releasing internal support and customer facing software. This is a highly visible position that will interact at all levels of the AWS and Amazon.com business. 10 years’ experience building and managing development teams that design and deliver large distributed systems.
10 years of experience of managing products, budgets and justifying resource needs to senior leaders and finance partners.
5+ years of experience object-oriented design, and agile development methodologies
5+ years’ experience managing and effectively operating a complex system that is highly reliable and scalable
Bachelors or Advanced Degree in Engineering
Must be technically credible to lead teams of world-class software engineers and be able to make the right design decisions and technology choices
This leader has must have demonstrated that they have succeeded in delivering high quality technology products/services in a very high growth environment where priorities shift rapidly
Ability to prioritize well, communicate clearly and understands how to drive a high level of focus and excellence with a strong, talented, opinionated team
Sound business judgment, proven ability to influence others, and strong analytical thinking skills are critical to success in this position
Demonstrated ability to formulate data driven decisions that lead to results
Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, manage, and prioritize multiple projects
Strong track record delivering resulting on customer requirements in different cultures and across boundaries
Experience with inbound product management responsibilities.
Experience with building and leading product teams with an emphasis on scaling them to meet the demands of a rapidly growing business
Experience translating customer needs into features, pricing models, and merchandising opportunities to deliver an unparalleled customer experience.
Experience with Technical Support or Customer Service.
