Director - R&D - Volex - Austin
Job description
Join the team of a newly created global division soon to be headquartered in Austin, TX. Reporting to the Divisional CEO and as a key member of the leadership team, the R&D Director provides the strategic leadership and expertise needed to effectively execute the company's product and development initiatives. Hands-on and results driven.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead the R&D organization, including project and product management activity, product analysis and testing, and transfer and integration to manufacturing operation.
Attract and build a highly skilled team, setting and maintaining high standards in a highly collaborative team environment.
Inspire creativity, engineering discipline and results orientation through visionary leadership and excellent communication.
Lead new R&D projects; lead technical and strategic cross-departmental meetings. Provide appropriate R&D support for current activities.
Advise senior management regarding the status of projects under development and anticipate and develop new strategic initiatives.
Prioritize development goals against resource constraints to deliver against the highest priority items.
Desired Skills and Experience
QUALIFICATIONS:
BS/BA degree in Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
R&D Leadership experience in the Interconnect, Semiconductor and/or Networking equipment industries preferred.
Extensive knowledge of product development systems with a proven track record of success in delivering complex products on time, cost & quality driving growth in the market.
A proactive individual with a strategic perspective, who will initiate action to drive new product innovation and maintain/grow existing products in a changing environment.
Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, negotiation and influencing skills.
International orientation with cultural flexibility. Preparedness to travel 25-40%.
