Director - Global Payroll - NVIDIA - Santa Clara


Job description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and develop the capabilities of the US Payroll team, including providing training and development of existing team members, in a collaborative team environment.
- Oversee the activities of the global payroll function to include the development, implementation, maintenance, management, and direction of payroll processes, systems and operations to improve operational efficiency.
- Participate as a key team member in the global Workday system rollout team.
- Collaborate with Global Controllers to develop, execute and foster best practices for executing global payroll practices.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert and partner with Global Controllers to lead all phases of design, implementation and optimization of the Payroll process globally.
- Partner with Global Controllers to provide general oversight of payroll operations in numerous countries through 3rd party payroll providers.
- Ensure that global payroll processes are aligned with the requirements for all regions.
- Develop policies and procedures for global payroll processes.

- Work closely with all in-house global payroll operations teams for the development, implementation, maintenance, management, and direction of payroll operations.
- Ensure development of payroll tax process for compliance with all federal and state legislation and deadlines.
- Ensure that appropriate controls are in place and administered.
- Review, develop, and implement payroll processes and procedures to improve operational efficiency.
- Develop business continuity management planning and disaster recovery plans for the payroll organization.
- Ensure that global payroll reports are standardized and work as intended.
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley 404 controls. Liaison with internal and external audit on payroll issues.
- Resolve escalated internal payroll issues to include complex payroll tax transactions.
- Develop payroll procedures in support of implementations done by Legal, Benefits, HR or Stock that impact payroll transactions.
- Actively collaborate with business partners in other functions to improve or develop policies, processes and customer service.
- Ensure timely accurate completion of global payroll processing, funding and payments.
- Plan and manage projects and resources to company, department and team objectives.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor�s degree in accounting, finance or related field
- 10+ years of progressive experience in a payroll function, including previous experience leading a global payroll function
- CPP or equivalent designation
- Knowledge of payroll and payroll related systems and applications such as Workday, Ultipro, ADP, SAP
- Subject matter expert on complex payroll related issues including share-based compensation, employee mobility, federal, state and local statutory requirements, and non-exempt employee pay
- Strong understanding of upstream and downstream processes such as HR functions and payroll accounting
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet payroll and period closing deadlines
- Ability to work independently and develop a team with focus on accuracy and timeliness
