UX Director - Rocket Fuel - Redwood City

Job description
As a UX Design Director candidate to create an addictive user experience. The ideal candidate is an expert in both user experience design and visual design, and passionately driven to create elegant and simple interfaces. Coupled closely with Product and Engineering, this candidate will build out the UX department, institute lean UX design processes to successfully create guidelines and standards that will lend to beautiful user experiences for Rocket Fuel customers.


Desired Skills and Experience
Core Competencies
8+ years of experience designing stunning user experiences with at least 5 years of management experience.
A strong portfolio that demonstrates your systems thinking and core skills across a variety of interactive design formats & methodologies: e.g. websites, software applications, mobile/tablet UI and apps
Advocate and evangelize user-centered design within the company, creating a better understanding and appreciation in the organization while promoting best practices to continually evolve the product
Keen ability and desire to remain hands on, actively designing as needed
Advanced degree in Design, Psychology, HCI, or Human Factors (or equivalent experience)
Design Skills
Strong visual design sense and ability to communicate ideas through artwork
Experience with iterative prototyping and incorporating feedback into new designs
Knowledge of best practices and industry standards
Ability to apply consumer design methodologies to an enterprise application
Management Experience
History of defining and implementing UI style guidelines and best practices
Experience leading and building a UX department
Empowering a team of experienced UX Designers to lead and complete design initiative
Research & Strategy
Background in usability testing, user interviews, research methodologies, and standard usability measurements.
Ability to create user experience goals and conceptual frameworks; user personas, related key user journeys and relevant flowcharts; information architecture and, as necessary, content strategies
